  1. Really--would it not be brutal if it was the other way around--same distance for the other half of the region when they have to travel to Letcher, Knott or that terrible box on the hill in Perry County.:ohbrother:
  2. Owsley lost 6 seniors and their coach, as well--and also have a first year head coach!!!!!
  3. Congratulations Owls---it is VERY hard to win in McKee--Really do not remember an Owl win in Jackson County in many, many years-- The kids ALL played as a TEAM and played very, very hard for Coach Davidson. Coach Davidson has great rapport with his team--and it shined last night. Fantastic W for the OWLS!!!:dancingpa
  4. WOW--Great job JC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Bobcats must be overrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Absolutely--Coach Hall is a class act---glad he is returning to the local sidelines. He was a victim of Breathitt politics!!! But done a great job while at the Coliseum.
  6. Ah! Ha! Wonder if Noble might apply for the Powell County job now that Lively--his good friend--it moving up to the school administration ranks. IMO--he should ---take all the kids to Stanton everyday--at least they might give him a teaching job down there?????????????? And his dad could seek election on the Breathitt Board---That would be GREAT!!!:dancingpa
  7. IMO Noble is yet to prove himself as a high school coach. Yes--he was a great middle school coach--lucky to have a lot of talent at SMS--the jury is still out at the next level--IMO.
  8. :thumb:I heard today that Charlie Davidson is the new Head Coach for the Owls. It was decided to hire from within the current teaching staff in the district--as I understand. According to those close to the situation, Coach Davidson has proven himself as someone with great integrity, hard-working, dedicated, and has the respect of both students and staff. Congratulations and Good Luck to Coach Davidson!:dancingpa
  9. What about his knee injury from summer basketball?
  10. I heard that Salyers is staying at Perry Central. Is Nick practicing with the football team?
  11. You are 100% correct Professor!!! I am not a bit surprised by the actions of the Breathitt administration--my surprise comes from the way Doug has handled this situation.
  12. I cannot believe it--wait--yes I can believe it----July 15th--A decision being made on the last day allowed by law in order for a teacher to be released from a contract--if the sending school should choose to not release a teacher. Today's talk indicates that the Board Chair has given in to the hiring of Noble as the coach at BHS--simply for the politics and the fact that Whitaker's price tag was way out of the budget range??? From the talk that I have heard, the Owsley folks are anxious to move on in a new direction---and Breathitt's deliberate delay has not delayed the plans for a Noble replacement--afterall, if someone does not appreciate having a secure coaching position and prefers to be a second choice for another team--good luck! Hope it last for at least one season!:dancingpa The sad part is what this type of action does to KIDS!
  13. Looks like the Supt. it going to wait until the very last minute---Remind me of what those blue banners hanging in Jackson say--is it "Breathitt County --Where Your Kids Come First"???????????????
  14. I heard that the administration is seeking Coach Whitaker from Hazard, along with the 2 young athletes that he would bring???But I doubt they will make the move to Jackson---politics will win out--IMO.
  15. So are you confirming 100% that Nick has registered as a BHS student for 2008-2009?
  16. I heard that a Noble, other than the current Board chair, might run for a Board Position--hiring a Noble as coach would prevent this from being possible---Another political battle????????????????????????
  17. I hear that there is some confusion among the board--some want Doug and others do not. It is all about politics from what I hear. It is not about hiring a great coach or even about getting kids back into the school district that have gone other places---it is nothing but POLITICS!!!!!!!!!!!!All parties should bewareeeeeeeeeeee! Everyone will figure it out--but it may be too late for some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:fire:
  18. I doubt that will happen-- with Owsley wanting him back--the community is not really happy about this situation. I hear that the folks in Booneville had been told this would never happen as long as the administration at Breathitt was as it is now. So they are just a bit dismayed!
  19. Promises---from a Breathitt County politician??? Doug has had promises made before---has he not???
  20. I would hope that Arch goes ahead and hires or has the BHS Principal after consulting with his council hire someone as soon as possible. I am sure he knows who is going to be hired right now. There are waivers for the 30 day period--he could have already had someone hired if he so choosed--so he should get it done so the rumors will stop and the kids can get on with their summer basketball after the dead period coming up for the next two weeks. I am tired of the political games played by some--It is a bit ironic that those blue banners hang around Breathitt County marketing the philosophy "Where KIDS Come First"---I belive there could be a typo--and the 'FIR' should really be 'LA'???
  21. Yes--I am sure he will do what he feels is best for his ENTIRE family. Looking the supt. in the eye---"politics are politics". I know that Doug has been down this road before---need not say anything more. As a Bobcat fan, I do not trust some folks to be completely honest with any new coach---the administration will figure out what is best for their current "political situation" and they will act accordingly--based on What is BEST for them--not a new coach and not the kids!!!
