  1. The posting for Mr. Napier was a joke--you must be thinking of Denny Fugate who was the Coach at MC Napier many years ago. He played college basketball at EKU in the late 70's. :dancingpa I have heard that is a viable candidate--great friends with the AD--and would bring several athletes with him, etc! He could be a GREAT hire for the supt.!!
  2. I doubt that Tim would want to coach again--but who knows. I am sure the district administrators are thinking about the future of the boys program and will do what they feel is best for the athletes and the program. The timing of a potential vacancy will definitely present a challenge for the school district--but I am sure a lot of thought will go into any decision made.
  3. Absolutely--This would be a "dream job" for any Breathitt Countian who has a passion for coaching and basketball ----butttttttttttt--you would be getting into a situation that is RULED by politics--not "what's best for education and athletics"--that is the facts--Breathitt basketball would not be where it is today if it was not for the politics. If people think it is going to change--they are kidding themselves. IMO Doug is a class act and does not need to get caught back up in the mess of Breathitt County politics--but of course it is Doug's decision.
  4. You are 100% on it IMO! I do trust that Doug will see through the smoke screen set up by Arch! It is too ironic to be for real and sincere that all of a sudden Arch wants Doug to come to Breathitt. Doug should be smart enough to see through it--But I know it looks inviting--it would to any Breathitt countian--but history doesn't lie. People do not change overnight--and neither does Arch.
  5. You have got that right! Just wait and see--let Nick and Salyers get back--practice 1 minute in football or any other sport at BHS and the heat will be on--Doug will wish he had stayed at OCHS--but it will be tooooo late!!
  6. He has been playing some summer ball with Owsley and Wolfe. I am sure it will be a tough decision come August.
  7. They should improve--you would think that a school with 180 freshmen--should be able to dress a basketball team that would at least have wins over teams other than Cornerstone Christian Academy. They really have no where to go but UP! IMO
  8. Thank you for explaining to those people, who obviously are eager to criticize Owsley the REST of the STORY!:thumb:
  9. You need to know one thing. Owsley does look at resumes! And I am sure that Owsley does not look forward to hiring a coach every year. Coaches have left for reasons that were expected to enhance their futures--if Doug leaves-- this again is the case. Coach Parrett and Coach Noble will not tell anyone that they did not and have not had the full support of the school, etc.
  10. If Arch doesn't care how good or bad the Bobcats do, what happen to Coach Banks--??????????
  11. You are right on Professor! The Middle School kids are in tears thinking that Coach Noble might leave. They have really grown close to him this year. I hope they do not get let down.
  12. Well Said-- And just another reason that Doug Noble should stay where he is at---Owsley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dancingpa
  13. You are so right--Coach Noble should return to Owsley. They gave him a head coaching job when Breathitt ignored him. I know it would be tough to pass up a Breathitt job--if the head administrator was different--but after a brief honeymoon--it will back to usual for the head Bobcat! Noble BEWAre!!
  14. Are the Fugate's any relation to Denny Fugate--the Perry Central Assistant Coach--last season?? What about Kyle Lively? He's a Breathitt County boy????
  15. What happened to Cecil Clair and the guy from Ohio that you mentioned some time ago?
  16. There is no such thing as:confused: a legitimate four year contract in school level positions like coaches. He might give him one verbally--but Arch has been known to change his mind---politics as usual????
  17. They had Charlie Turner, Larry Sparks and Tim Bobrowski--over a period of about 19 years--for the last 10 years the Owls have had bad luck when it comes to retaining a solid boy's coach. Coach Parrett and Coach Noble were great hires--but Booneville was and is a drive for them. Coach Parrett left to take a job at a much larger North Laurel, close to his home--If Coach Noble should leave--it would be to a much larger school, close to his home. Just remember Coach Noble is not gone yet---and knowing Breathitt politics like he should--he just might not buy in to Arch's rhetoric and promises--but I'm sure it would be tempting?????Owsley--offers lots of support to its athletic programs--but as a small town, class A school --coaches as of late have seemed to look at it as a stop on their way to bigger things. Coach Noble needs to just take a mind trip back a few years--and that should confirm his decision to stay in BOONEVILLE. The OWLS could be a great team to watch in 2008 with Noble #1 on the bench and the other Noble on the court along with the other kids:dancingpa!
  18. I am sure Arch will make a strong push for Mr. Noble--that is how he works--so the question is-"will Mr. Noble leave a secure and appreciated position at Owsley, where he has the ultimate support of the administration and the kids love him"--back to a place where politics reign supreme--only to last for a couple of years--if lucky--with the supt. telling him who to play and what offense and defense to run--?? Doug has been the victim of Breathitt County politics several times before--It would be great for him to be able to be close to home---but sometimes that is not ultimately the best situation for you. I know Doug will have a tough emotional decision to make--if he is indeed offered the job, which I am sure he probably will be--Mr. Noble is a class act and I hope he will search deep and make a decision that will move him forward in his coaching career. He has a lot of years left in the teaching and coaching profession---And based on historical facts--it is not in the cards for someone to last at BHS for more than 3 or 4 years. Looks to me that this job is for someone like Denny Fugate who could retire anytime he chooses--so he can be Arch's buddy for a couple of years--then go on to other things. The young coaches in the area deserve something better than the Breathitt County Politics!!:fight::fire:
  19. Are AD's in most school districts school administrators, coaches, teachers, or just anyone who is in favor with the local politics?
  20. I have heard that Cornett may not be 100% interested in the head coaching position--but there are some other local individuals with varsity coaching experience that may be interested in the head job. I am sure a decision will be made soon.
  21. Agree--however, "The job right" would probably not fit with the established criteria.
  22. Are all this people currently working in a School District? This was a criteria also.
  23. Sounds a bit planned to me. With the limiting criteria, looks like to me they picked the person --then developed the qualifications. But I am not surprised!!:sssh:
