got game Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Who are the top teams in the 14th Region next year?? Breathitt Powell Knott PCC Hazard or Leslie Don't know much about Letcher or Owsley?
Athlete7 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Letcher Central will be very very good. All those 8th grade holdbacks will be playing again and they are very talented.
got game Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 Breathitt will make it a three peat. I agree...IF the 8th grader attends Breathitt Co. High...I've heard she may leave..?
UK_SPORTS_FAN Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Breathitt should be the favorite. Letcher will be loaded, but young. Perry always has talent, and Hazard has everything coming back. These would be my top 4 teams with Leslie and Powell right there with Perry and Hazard. Breathitt and Letcher will be the class of the region.
Big Game Player Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Owsley will only loose two players from the previous season. They loose their go to girl in Kendra Combs (signing with Berea) and a great example as a role player in Corina Thacker which will hurt. They bring back the future juniors in Gilbert twins, a future senior in Candi Combs and some young talent in Payton(8th I believe) that should be ready for next year. This team is still young but have played together for a while. I look for them to be a up paced team. The biggest problem for them now are tring to find a coach.
callmeclutch Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Knott should be good as well. Although they did lose Mosley which will hurt them they still have a ton of girls coming back. They have had a really good JV team for the past 3seasons. Once Kendra Thomas gets back from her ACL injury and is 100% they should be just as tough as anyone else.

Big Game Player Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Are they looking for a coach? From what I am told the guy who stepped in last year has the choice of staying there or stepping down. I believe he still is undecided but I didnt mean that in that they are looking because I believe they hope he stays. My fault on the misunderstanding, I meant that in a way as of the coaching situation that occured during the middle of the season with Coach Bates and him leaving in the middle of the last season.

Yea, Knott should be tough...Is Mosley the only one they lose? There is really no clear #1 out of the top teams; as far as I can tell there will be quite a few teams vying for the 14th region crown next year
pallex32 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I agree...IF the 8th grader attends Breathitt Co. High...I've heard she may leave..? Kendell is staying put. Ive been told that by her mother. She will not be going anywhere.

Just wondering Big Game Player. I too have heard that they may be looking, but also heard they may give the job permenantly to Coach Cornett. They just need to make a decision soon so this talented group can get ready for next season.

I believe Peyton Wright, the 8th grader you mention, has the potential to be one of the best players in the region in the future. She's very athletic, about 5'8 or 5'9, long arms, and has great leaping ability. She needs to improve her shooting, but she has 4 years to improve all her skills. This lefty has a lot of talent and a great future imo. She should fit in really well with Owsley's returning players next year.
