I am leaning towards a 1080p Panasonic or Samsung. What do you all have? What are your specs? Do you like it, are you satisfied?

halfback20
Samsung makes a very nice HDTV IMO. I have a 32" Westinghouse LCD HDTV and I love it. It is 1080i. 1080p is the best available right now, but honestly there isn't that big of a difference between 1080i and 1080p. Also, the only way you can watch anything in 1080p is if you have a bluray dvd player. Television shows are not in 1080p yet.
Jim Schue
Yeah, I've been pricing them with the intent of buying around the beginning of FB season. Probably gonna go with a 32" and maybe upgrade to a larger one maybe two years down the road.
threetimelover
I have two Samsungs--one LCD and one plasma. They are both awesome--I cannot stand to watch regular tv anymore!
letabrotherspeak
Got a 52" Samsung DLP.....720p...as mentioned there are not a lot of channels and such in 1080. Absolutley love it. Got it for around $1,500.. If price is a concern, look at the Vizio models at WalMart...heard good things about them. Consumer Reports recently did a feature of HD sets...and had a primer about them. If you hit the local library they should have it. Within last 4-5 months. Take into account such things as the typical lighting in your room, distance and angles you will have from where you will be viewing. Certain HD sets are better than others from viewing angles. Original Rookie
I have a 50" Samsung Plasma.. Got it for about 1400. I love it.
born2reign
I have a 42" plasma 1080p set and I love it! I would go Samsung over Panasonic; the Samsung TVs have gotten great reviews. Check out some of the lower priced models as well, like Vizio. The reviews I have read said that they are good TVs and cheaper than a Samsung or Panasonic. If you are going big with your set (42" or bigger) I think the LCD sets have better non HD picture than the plasma, but that is personal opinion. If you are going smaller than 42" though, I think the picture quality is abut the same.
FairFan
46" Samsung LCD 1080p....I love it. Make sure you use HDMI over component cables.
DragonFire
Just make sure you get a 1080P LCD in the type of size you want. I'd recommend Samsung. They usually have the best contrast ratio.
nees1212
Make sure you use HDMI over component cables. I think this depends on the set and personal preference. With my TV, I noticed no differences between the two.

hokiefromky
I have a 32" Olevia LCD and a 50" Samsung Rear Projection. Both are 720p. I bought them on two separate Black Fridays. I love both of these models! While in the store, note the differences between the black color in all of the TV sets. Some sets have a problem with showing black - it will look grey or washed out. Samsung is known for their quality in this issue. Keep in mind that some stores have experts who fine tune the settings on these TV's while other stores have displays that came with factory settings. This can cause a huge difference in how the screen looks. Some stores will also fine tune the more expensive sets to make them look that much better, causing you to spend more money. If they'll let you, play with the settings on the floor display to make sure you get what you want. My 32" Olevia looked awful in the store. It was not properly set up and was displayed next to a Samsung model that was twice the price. I tweaked the settings and made them look almost identical - saved myself $400. The Samsung had the better picture, but it wasn't worth the difference in price.
