On this date in 1985, EgyptAir Flight 648 was hijacked by three members of Abu Nidal. One of the terrorists was killed in the hijacking, and the plane was eventually landed in Malta, where there was a brief standoff, followed by a "surprise" raid by Egyptian commandos. In the course of the raid, explosives used to breech the passenger and luggage compartment doors of the plane using explosives, catching the interior of the plane on fire. 58 passengers and 1 of the terrorists were killed by fire/suffocation.

On this date in 1960' date=' John F. Kennedy Jr. was born to parents Jack and Jackie Kennedy. Exactly 3 years later, his father was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery after being assassinated three days previous. What a third birthday.[/quote']

On this date in history, 100 years ago, Russian tzar Nikolai II and his entire family was assassinated by the Bolsheviks, and the Russian monarchy was officially brought to an end.

 

Except possibly for one of the daughters, Anastasia. Some believe she lived till old age. There's some info out there about it and a movie was made about it.

Since the executions at least five women have claimed to be Anastasia, a few of them living in the USA. Everyone wants to be famous.
