It's Bruce and Bailey Time

Featured Replies

The Reds CF is going to hit leadoff this year. I don't want Bruce out of position AND out of his comfort zone in the batting order...

So you have a problem with him playing out of position in the majors, but not in the minors? That sounds logical.

Bailey had a rough day today giving up I think 5 or 6 runs in something like 4 2/3 innings. Bruce did have a HR in the 10-7 win.

Nope. What don't you like about it?

I like it. Keppinger has good at bats, gets hits, and gets on base a lot. He needs to lead off.

CF is not out of his comfort zone. Also, if moving him down from three at triple A to one in the bigs would effect him as greatly as you are saying, then we have a big problem. If Bruce is brought up. The lineup should look like this.

1. Kepp

2. Dunn

3. Phillips

4. Votto

5. Griff

6. E-5

7. JAY BRUCE

8. Bako

And with obvious variations when freel is in the lineup.

Pitching rotation.

Harang(can he get a few runs please)

Volquez

Bronson

Cueto

Bailey- We all know he needs to work on his pitches, but there is no future with Matt Belisle, give the kid the shot he needs and ready him for next season.

One more plug, get Adam Dunn and Griffey out of here.

If we bring Bruce up, we need to handle it like the Rays and Evan Longoria, not push him into something he is not used to, and to take it slow and not rely on him, especially not put him in the lead off spot.

This Team needs another right handed bat in the worse way.

True, but they just need someone to drive in the runs, anyone, plain and simple they aren't putting up near the runs they should.

That was yesterday.

Phillips doesn't get on base enough to be a real effective leadoff guy, but his power makes him a good fit lower in the order.

Keppinger also hits into a lot of double plays, which would be another good reason to hit him in the leadoff slot.

He'd hit in to more with 7,8,9 on base. Why does he GIDP so much? He's not fast. At all...

If 7 and/or 8 is one base 9 is going to bunt them over, taking away the double play possibility. C'mon GT. You're starting to worry me here lately.

Reds pitchers put down a sacrifice???

And because he's an ultra-contact, ground-ball hitter ...

Not as funny as you think.

We keep hearing that the Reds "don't do the little things well," but did you know the average for National League teams last year was 47 sacrifice flies (or about two every seven games) and 65 sacrifice bunts (two every five games), and that the Reds were only one below the sac-fly average and plus-8 on the sac-bunt average?
