May 8, 200818 yr It's going to happen so what will you do? The time frame given was 6 months to a year from now with two years being the longest time we have until this occurs. I will have to quit my job and take two part time jobs that are in walking distance of my home. What changes will you make and who do you blame for this. I drive 700 plus miles a wek with my job and get very little for mileage. Schawn food is the second lowest paying company in our area when it comes to mileage pay. Are these the same people who bring you the local weather forecast?
May 8, 200818 yr I think we easily reach $5 a gal before Congress steps in. That's kind of the way I see it. Gas will get to 5 dollars a gallon. People driving the tanker trucks that deliver the gas will start being held up for their fuel. I'm sure we'll have a few riots. Sadly, congress will not step in and do anything about this until people are killed over this.

May 8, 200818 yr A friend was telling me last night that he heard somewhere that over the first quarter of this year, Shell pocketed something like $9.8 BILLION in PROFIT from gas prices being so high...Someone please explain to me why if they are pocketing that much, gas can't come down?

May 8, 200818 yr Can't see gas getting that high. We have enough oil/resources in this country. We just don't have the cheap/easy to recover Middle Eastern oil. As soon as we start production on our oil supplies the cost per barrel will drop. If Congress would get off it's collective behind and 1. Open up Artic National Wildlife Refugee, 2. clear the way for new refineries, 3. pass emission standards for coal to oil plants, and 4. increase use of nuclear energy- we would be well on our way for energy independence. We have enough oil in various places including shale oil, oil sands, and coal reserves to meet our needs now and for future generations. As long as we stick to producing our own fuel we'll be fine. The problem is once we start down this path OPEC will begin to pump more, flood the market and the price per barrel will crash. (it happened in the early 1980's) Get Congress to move forward on a real energy policy instead of a gas tax holiday and ethanol from corn and we can have a stable reliable fuel supply without Middle Eastern issues. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Yes, congress should step out of the way:thumb: Sadly, I really don't see anything changing until people start getting shot over gas prices. It seems like it always takes a tragedy of some kind for things to change. People are going to start stealing gas and walking around with gas cans under their coats selling regular unleaded for $3.00 a gallon like it's a drug :lol:

And as they toil and work in the garden to be able to sustain themselves, they will be working (exercising) and losing weight. And that pesky obesity problem will be getting better. Now that they are working for their food, walking places, their health has improved. Meaning less times to the doctor and less medicine which means the cost of health insurance will go down. Glass half full.
