May 8, 200818 yr Is he any good? ESPN Insider is a little slower to upgade their rankings, but here is his evaluation from last November... Jon Hood is a very skilled wing who has a great deal of potential because his body is still developing. Hood can really shoot the three and is a better-than-average athlete. He needs to continue to get stronger and really needs to work on getting stronger with the basketball in his hands. Hood is a knock-down shooter, he can use a shot fake and is not afraid to try to finish in traffic. His left hand needs work and he needs to get lower to the ground when driving to the basket. He also needs to really concentrate on working on the defensive end of the floor. Hood needs to continue to show what he can do on the AAU scene because his high school competition is weak and it is hard to get a good gage on him when watching him play at his high school. Hood is very talented, has good size and is a prospect worth monitoring this year. http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=54108&season=2009
May 8, 200818 yr Gotta love the recruiting ability to get the best players along with getting the stud in state kids. Billy G, keep working your magic and you will get nothing but praise from me. As the guy on the Fantasy Football commercial a few years ago said, "Campionship!"
May 8, 200818 yr There's a video of him on youtube playing against UHA. They don't really show much of him, but I believe he had a double double against Hopson.
May 8, 200818 yr UK locking up recruits in advance is really weird. It seems like they usually get them in the spring signing session of the current year.
May 8, 200818 yr Very good pickup for UK and Coach Gillespie. The big man prospect mentioned earlier sounds like one we definetely need to get.
May 8, 200818 yr Great get for UK. I've seen Hood play several times and have always come away impressed, even though he has to do it all himself for his team. Glad to see him staying in the state. He looks like he has tons of potential.
May 8, 200818 yr For those of you who have seen him, who would you compare him to. I doubt he is this good, but I am hoping for a Mike Miller/Mike Dunleavy clone.
May 8, 200818 yr For those of you who have seen him, who would you compare him to. I doubt he is this good, but I am hoping for a Mike Miller/Mike Dunleavy clone. At least you didn't say "The next Larry Bird."
May 8, 200818 yr I don't see how it can continue that much longer. If he keeps it up, all our classes will be filled up through the 2011 class by the end of this summer :thumb: There's always the 5th graders in the class of 2015 that can give UK a verbal...
May 8, 200818 yr Author Hood is 6'6", correct? I think thats what he's listed at so he's probably 6'4" or 6'5"
