Just some thoughts about owning firearms

Featured Replies

I recieved this e-mail from a friend a while back and I just thought that I would post part of it. I don't know what all on here think about it but these points sum up a lot of my thoughts on the subject.

Should this be in P&R then maybe a mod could move it. I placed it in the Gen. Discussion forum bc these comments were not made by any politician (that I know of) or were not on any newscast.

I just agreed with these statements and thought that I would share. Anyway, here we go..................

1. I carry a gun cause a cop is too heavy.

2. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.

3. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him "Why do you carry a 45?"

The Ranger responded, "Because they don't make a 46."

3. An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.

4. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm.

"Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?"

"No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle."

5. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!

But wait, there's more!

6. I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did. She said "Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!" To which I said, of course it is loaded, can't work without bullets!" She then asked, "Are you that afraid of some one evil coming into your house?"

My reply was, "No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too." To which I'll add, having a gun in the house that isn't loaded is like having a car in the garage without gas in the tank.

I always keep my pistol in my house and loaded. Those are pretty funny to me.

I can go with everything but number six. That's just stupidity of the highest order.

Ditto. In fact mines a 1911 in .45. They don't make a .46 ya know.:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

What is your issue with #6?

I have an issue with #3... particularly because there are two of them. Also not a big fan of unarmed men getting shot, but that's got a lot of "what ifs" to it.

I own -

Handguns -

Glock 27 .40 Cal.

Bryco Arms .380's

Colt John Wayne Commemorative

Colt Combat Commander .45

Colt .357

Colt SAA in .357, .22, .45, and .44

Colt Python .357

S&W .38 Special

S&W .22

Dan Wesson .357

Rifles -

Marlin .35 Rem.

Marlin .22

Maadi ARM - AK-47

Colt AR-15

Ruger 10/.22

Mossberg & Sons .22

Winchester Crazy Horse Commemorative

Winchester John Wayne Commemorative

Winchester Oliver F. Winchester Commemorative

Shotguns -

Winchester 1400 12 Ga.

Winchester 1200 12 Ga.

My first gun, a K-Mart .410

Good list and I agree with all.

Whats your problem with #6?

I love the list, I have no problem with a loaded gun in the home as long as it is safely secured if kids are around. I own around 12 handguns, 3 assualt rifles, 10 rifles, and 7 shotguns. My kids are 3 and 7 They both have guns that were gifts from their granddad and locked in a safe, The 7 year old shoots regularly and took his first deer with a 20 guage last year.

Mine is a Glock 22 .40. :D

Looks like the BGP arsenal is quite extensive. I wonder when the BGP militia will be called up to go to Iraq?

Check out the new "Judge" by Taurus.

3' rifled barrell revolver that shoots a .45 Colt and a 2 1/2" .410 ga. shotshell.

BTW, I'm considering purchasing a semi automatic assault rifle. Any suggestions?

I don't have the money right now, but I might start saving. I'm not looking to spend too much either .

I don't believe people should leave loaded guns around their house without any protections on them. I think ammo should be stored seperately, or there should be some sort of locking device or container involved.
