What does Estill County need to do to improve in 2008? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

I did not see a whoel game but from their clips on the internet.

 

1)keep running their rocket series. They do a great job with that series

Something I think they should look into is doing some of what Scott Branch HS does with the shifts and such.

Man, Estill only lost the QB from last year. That running game will be at the top of the state again. They run the double wing extremely effective. I agree, the rocket series stuff may be some of the best I've seen.

They have to figure out how to slow down Breahitt County. Overall, they just gave up too many points to less than impressive offenses. They need to focus on keeping opponents under 14 to 18 points. I think if they're offense is running on all cylinders, they can out do that score consistently.

Defense is the big issue. The Engineers have proved over the last several years that they can pile up the rushing yards in a hurry, as soon as they get a solid defense to go along with that rushing attack they'll be hard to handle.

Glad to hear the parents of Estill county seem to be really getting into the Double Wing. A system like that usually never satisfies the bleacher coaches, but with parent support, the possibilities are endless.

How do you guys see the Estill vs Harlan Co shaping up,this could be for a home playoff game. In both games against Cawood they were able to run at will and put big numbers on the scoreboard.

I know most on the Harlan Co side believe the added numbers from consolidation + Coach Larkey will equal victory.

Estill was able to maul Cawood correct, but they had trouble slowing down Cawood in the Playoffs until Cawood's TB got hurt. I do not think Estill will be able to match the speed and depth of the Bears. This is how I would rate the district.

No disrepspect to coach Larkey, he is a fantastic coach, but he doesen't have a great 40 time, and I think that his playing time is past.

He didn't suit up for Rockcastle either, but he had a pretty big impact on that program.
