2008 Estill County

Featured Replies

This is a pretty good Estill team with most of the top players back from last year. I think the Estill County-Harlan County game will be a good one.

Does nobody think you could suit up Larkey and put him on the line? I be he'd be nasty!! HAHAHA...if only we could all get those days back.

News reported Estill's coach is having some issues.

I am having trouble following the logic here, during the mid-ninties the Rock was one of the top programs in the state, and coach Larkey was the master mind, but Harlan County is a first year consolidated school with very little tradition from which to build and to equate the success of one state power to the hopeful success of a start up school dosen't make much sense to me. Am I wrong? If so enlighten me as to why it should be looked at in this way.

And Estill is a power?

Do you know how many losing season Coach Larkey has had at ROCK? ONE and that was his first year and they went 4-6, so it does not take him long to get the motor started!!

We can talk all day on here about this and you have your opinion and I have mine we will just have to wait a few months and see how it plays out.

What type issues? Health?

Larkey took over a Rockcastle program that everyone wanted to schedule for homecoming. They had no tradition. After a VERY short time, that all changed. At Harlan, he is more experienced, taking over a team with much more talent than that 1985 Rockcastle team. It will not take him long to turn Harlan County into a power. Mark that down.

Tom is an extraordinary coach, Harlan looks to be very talented with the schools combining. This game does not occur until week 9 of the season. I think both sides may need to be worrying about week 1 first and foremost. Even though this game could have some big playoff implications. There is a lot of football to be played between now and then.

P.S. Let's not forget about Fleming County. Coach P does a good job with the Panthers and he'll have them back to form next year.

Any word on the situation at Estill?

The situation in Estill is fine.

Neers is number 26, 10, and 44 all back for Estill next season? If so all of those guys have good size and number 10 and 44 can run.

The top three running backs/linebackers will be seniors next year.

Not exactly. #26 and #44 will be seniors, #10 will be a sophomore. On the offensive side The Engineers have lost their signal caller, and that's about it.
