2008 Estill County

Featured Replies

I imagine Estill county will also give some carries to another freshman that is coming up this year, that may be even more impressive than #10 was during his freshman campaign. I saw the kid play as an 8th grader, and he like #10 in 8th grade was a man among boys. Good hard nosed runner, with enough speed for the double wing.

Not exactly. #26 and #44 will be seniors, #10 will be a sophomore. On the offensive side The Engineers have lost their signal caller, and that's about it.

The signal caller did graduate, but they can find another QB to hand the ball off. I do not think the passing will be a big factor for the Neers. Although, the QB from last season had some speed.

What I love about Estill Co., is that they pass when they want to, and not when the defense dictates them to. That running game is so effective, it allows for a less than average QB to kill opponents with a playaction or bootleg.

I coached against Estill's 8th grade team a couple of years ago and they only dressed 12players, and ran the ball down our throats for a 30-0 win. Estill is building a solid program running that Double wing/Rocket offense all the way down through the middle school. By the way, Larkey's record against Estill in the nineties is like comparing Pitino's record against Alabama in the nineties, it's irrelevant. Larkey is a great coach and will have Harlan winning and winning often soon but I think Estill with challenge Harlan.
