To say Brian REGRESSED this season is way, WAY off base. He was much more fit this past season than he has been since his freshman year. His ball had a ton more zip and revolutions on it. He worked hard, and succeeded on leading his crossing routes more. Brian was much better this past season, than he ever has been, IMO. He had no defensive support and a sieve for an offensive line. This season made me believe in Brohm more than ever. Flacco didn't believe in himself enough to stay at Pitt and try to become a starter. He was an OK D-1AA QB, with a rocket arm. That arm did Jeff Goerge very well, huh? Ryan showed how erratic he can be, in his biggest games. I now understand why Brian dropped, and I cam cool with that. Brohm will be the most successful of the three IMO, and that is biased, but not on blind faith.

 

IMO I believe Brohm regressed this year, if he didn't he would be the 1st QB taken. I know they're flops with big arms all the time, like Jeff George and Leaf, but when watching Flacco I was impressed with him. If Ryan would have had the weapons that Brohm was exposed to, I think his number would have been through the roof. I do agree that Brohm will be the most successful of the 3, mainly because the situation that he is in.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I don't see how anyone who watched Brohm last season could say he regressed. I went to every home game and while there were one or two games I was dissappointed with his play, there were many more "THANK GOD we have Brohm!" moments, specifically the Rutgers game. The team went 6-6, but Brohm went out a hero nonetheless.

To say that Brohm regressed this season is ridiculous imo.

I really can't see the point of view that says he regressed this season.

People that say if Brohm and Ryan switched, that Ryan would've flourished...go look at Ryan's stats in the games that he was pressured heavily, they were HORRIBLE. Guess what, Brian saw a ton of pressure most of the season, yet beat Ryan in almost every conceivable stat, and without an Oline, defense, or running game. All the while playing better competition.

This does not surprise me, Ryan never impressed me. I would not be surprised if Brohm, given the oppurtunity, is the best QB to come out of this draft.

Johnny U was cut by the Steelers in '55, and then signed as a free agent by Baltimore. I wouldn't call Brohm in the second round as a late pick.

I just expected more. Its just my opinion...

Did I hear that Ryan threw 19 picks last year? Yowza.

I thought two things when GB picked Brohm:

 

1: They are using him as trade bait.

2: They are not sold that Rodgers is their future.

 

I think it was a smart pick by the Packers. First, they needed a QB on the depth chart to replace Favre. Second, this is a team that has all the pieces in place to compete for the conference championship...it would be a big risk to go into the season banking everything that Rodgers will 1) deliver and 2) stay healthy. The consensus on Brohm (and I'm inclined to agree) is that while he may have the most limited upside, he's also the most "NFL ready" guy. For a team like Green Bay, Brohm makes a lot of sense. Supposing Rodgers gets hurt or just isn't good enough, they've drafted a guy who could step in and give them a chance to compete at the level they expect.

 

Obviously, there's no guarantees, but I like the pick from Green Bay's perspective.
