Ok, I have to add this I showed my kid and he said "Dad, they will think you agree with the bad call". I just said "what the ump says go". But as an ump if I saw that kind of call I would stop the game and tell the guy "lets get it right and put the guy on the base".

 

Dekinger call was so important, but this call was also important because his job is now on the line. Baseball tradition needs to change and use what the NFL uses. And this guy needs to see this play for a hour in slow mo.

Him going to the dug out is just being a baseball player, nothing more. Just because he didn't go crazy on the ump and yell and throw baseballs on the field (milton bradley) doesn't mean he didn't believe he wasn't safe. He is just more calm about it. I'd rather any player not turn into a Milton Bradley or Carl Everett type player.

Yeah Coach, like I said to my son..I'd stop the game and put the guy on first base and say "Play Ball". As a player from the age of 6 to 52 I would have respected the home plate ump who would have done that. But no, that would have made the guy mad, so be it...make the right decision.

 

I once made a call and I was the field ump. Everybody went nuts and I went to home and asked my buddy "what did you think"? "You missed it man". I turned back and changed my call, the other coach came out and was yelling and I just said "I want to get the right call for everyone".

 

Last one...Basketball offical and I had a new guy with me who wouldn't make a call to save his life. So I pretended he wasn't there and started calling the whole floor. A man came up to me later and gave me his card and told me he was the head man for Kentucky High schools and said he wanted me to come and join them and I said "No thanks... I do this for the love of it and its far as I want to go". But it shows you..do the honest thing.

I think they should have to participate in the aftergame pressers. Now that would be fun:D

 

Crew chief and the official making the call, at the very least. They could have had the chance to do what coaches and players do on a routine basis - man up and admit a mistake.
