He’s for the ban on semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. He means ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.

He supported the D.C. handgun ban, and said that it's constitutional. In a "1998 National Political Awareness Test," he pledged to support a "Ban on the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons." That includes most handguns and many rifles and shotguns.

He voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. We’re talking about a bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others.

He says stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities. Well fine, but in my opinion he’s talking about the black market here, he makes it sound as if it’s bonafide gun dealers that are doing this.

He advocates a law to forbid federally licensed gun dealers from legally selling constitutionally-protected products (firearms) in huge geographical areas, without holding purveyors of pornography to the same standard.

I don’t believe Barack Hussein Obama is for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms; I believe he`s out to eliminate it.

This is something that I do not understand. Why on Earth would our fellow Americans want someone of a different nationallity running our country? Its not that I'm prejudice beacause I'm not I mean look at his name that right there should tell ya if he gets the top spotin the world that we might as well go ahead and rename the USA to the United States of Iraq and Afghainastan (sp).

I read this post as one more attempt to get a niche special interest group (this time, the gun lobby) all lathered with a custom-manufactured wedge issue that isn't really an issue. People who are moved by claims such as these display their ignorance of the way our government works. There is zero chance of a President directly changing the legal structure of gun ownership. The President cannot change or write gun legislation. Congress isn't going to completely re-write the laws governing gun ownership--it simply won't happen. Congressional inertia is not overcome without a groundswell of public support. And there simply isn't a groundswell of public support for significant restrictions on gun ownership. And even if a law were passed, it would never survive 2nd Amendment legal challenges. This is a bogus issue.

You can give no guarantee of that whatsoever. I guess the gun ban could never have happened, but it did. Thanks to Republicans, it's gone. You're dead wrong, a president can get CC taken away, he can get legislation passed to ban certain weapons. What about the D.C. gun ban?

By people not looking into where he stands on the issues. They just like his flowery speeches and that he promises "change". But at what price?

My sister-in-law liked him and was going to vote for him if he beats Hillary, after I showed her where he stands on issues and the fact that he has ZERO experience, she's changed her mind.

I agree, RTS, Obama is probably the most anti-Second Amendment presidential candidate of my lifetime. I really do not understand why some Americans are willing to dismiss the attacks on one of our Bill of Rights while going ballistic when some small town decides to allow a live nativity scene in the town square. I cherish all of my rights, regardless of whether I choose to exercise them myself.

You haven't been paying attention in P&R have you? :lol: Because everyone gets so whiped up in a frenzy when you use his middle name, I've been using his, John Sidney McCain III and Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton's since.

No, that's not nit-picky at all.

 

I'm not personally for banning C&C, but I think that reasonable people can be. Since it would never pass (bring up what you want about European countries, but it's just not the same- the NRA is easily one of the three most powerful political lobbies in the US) it wouldn't be a factor at all in my vote.

 

I think you're going to need some links here, and it should probably be words of his own... something in the recent past would be a plus.
