The DC gun ban is not a federal law, and it is in fact being challenged at the Supreme Court level now, so that example is really irrelevant to the argument you're trying to make. The scenario you're suggesting is simply not very credible given the legislative process we have in the United States. Oh, and please spare us the ridiculous "there were people like you in Germany..." drivel. There have NEVER been amendments made to the Constitution, NO.... Why do you think it's going to the Supreme Court level now? Because it's unconstitutional maybe.... He wants the Clinton gun ban back, I guess that's OK in your book too though. He doesn't think CC for citizens is a good idea, I guess you view that as nonsense by me. Why are you even in this thread, you yourself said it's not an important issue, so what's the point? Fact remains that there were a lot of people that thought the way you do in many other countries and they lost their freedom to own guns.

Look, take a 100-level Civics class down at the local community college and learn about the legislative process in the U.S Constitution. If the next administration packs the court with liberals who would rule that the amendment doesn’t apply to individuals at all, and only to those belonging to a state militia (e.g., National Guard) to have the right to keep or bear arms, it can change.

I support President Bush in many areas but I have also been very critical of him in others. What's rich is you ignoring the facts in this thread. Let's hear your opinions on: He’s for the ban on semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. He supported the D.C. handgun ban, and said that it's constitutional. In a "1998 National Political Awareness Test," he pledged to support a "Ban on the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons." He voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. He said he opposed allowing ordinary citizens to carry concealed weapons and that a federal law banning concealed carried weapons except for law enforcement is needed. If your not interested then, don't bother, this is a thread for gun owners and what their opinions are of Obama's views on guns.
