When I attended ALC they were a 2 year school and there were around 80-90 students. During my time there they became a 4 year school and the enrollement rapidly increased.

If the school closes, they won't be ineligible. I can't see how they would be eligible at another school if JBS remains open.

 

I am just curious to see how this plays out. These players transfered while the school is still open and they are still planning on having a team next season. They obviously transferred for athletic reasons, so if the school closes after they have already transfered and applied for elgibility will this affect their chances of getting elgible.

They should be eligible if the school closes. Everyone is eligible to play somewhere, as long as they meet grade and age requirements.

 

If the school doesn't close, as Fields quoted Stepp in his column today, then it appears it would be very difficult to get eligible.

I read in the Lexington Hearld one day last week where Stepp was saying that they was NOT closing and that they intended on having a competitive team.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that. Some of the best friends I ever made was during my 2 years at ALC - simply because we all knew each other and we all became good friends. Its kind of crazy really though when you think about it... I mean, Joe Stepp, Jim Stepp, Gary Stepp, and even the wives are all in leadership positions within an institution that small. There are alot of things that can go wrong under those circumstances.

Its a little strange how things are ran over at ALC. I thought that when I was a student there and now, as an adult, I can see it even more. We called them the "Stepp Empire" when I was there.

From what I hear you have the two that transfered to Knott and the big guy not playing either. The only player that I can remember that got playing time last year and is returning is Clint Stepp. There a young player or two that may be competitive in a couple years but lack the physical capability.

I was reading on another site that Gary and Jim Stepp have both resigned as coaches at JBS. Tate Cox and Brent Hall have both transferred to Knott Central. Clark Stepp is graduating and Clint Stepp may be looking for a new school soon. I was wondering if JBS will have a varsity basketball team next season? There is speculation that they won't be able to field a team. Anyone else heard this?

 

I heard that Scott Co may have some openings on their roster. Better get it while its hot.

All I know is that several former JBS players are playing for Knott Central's AAU team at this time.

Kids do this all the time. They play with whoever they want to during the summer and are right back with their teams when the season starts. The boys from JBS are going to have a hard time getting eligible, so unless they want to give up a year of eligibliliy, then they will go right back to JBS because they are having a team and that will be the only place they will be able to play.

If Euton, Jackson, and Flannery are all eligible at Oak Hill South (Scott Co.) then the hypocrisy at KHSAA would have a tough time ruling Cox, Collins, and crew ineligible with the turmoil at JBS. Once again private schools create issues and problems for everyone else involved. In this case KCC and Scott Co. for now.

Rules say legit non athletic move. The KHSAA interprets the rules to fit the program and kid. PERIOD! They have proved it time and time again.
