Anderson County 58 Eminence 0

Featured Replies

Yes, it was 32-0 after the 1st inning with still his starting pitcher in the game go figure!!!

It sounds like you were there. Do you have any other details about the game? Did the starting pitcher come out after the first? Lots of walks by Eminence pitching? Are these teams in the same district and have to play each other?

No he pitch the whole game and yes Eminence had a bunch of walks. Our best pitcher had some grade problems and was not able to play!! I am proud of our boys they never hung there head.

Man I am all about the kids. That coach needs a little reality check. You can tell for sure he doesn' care about them at all. You don't do that to a team. Go Eminence for not walking off the field. Thanks for not giving that coach the satisfaction of being able to say, "I WAS BEATING A TEAM SO BAD THE WALKED OFF THE FIELD." Sounds like that was the only thing he was looking for. GO EMINENCE

My first question is why are these teams even playing each other? Are they in the same district and required to play? If not, I place blame on both coaches for even scheduling the game. It appears as though Anderson Cty. HS has around 1100+ students, while Eminence has around 375 total for grades 5 through 12 (so I'm guessing they have 150-175 high school students).

Beyond that, there are simply ways to hold a score down to something semi-reasonable. I don't care if Eminence pitching was wild and walking batters left and right, 58-0 tells me there was little, if any, effort by Anderson to limit the bloodbath.

This is absolutely ridiculous... I know kids dont want to go up to the plate and get out on purpose but something needed to be done.. This should have been prevented and the Anderson coaches should feel ashamed for letting this happen.

Is there not a three inning mercy rule in high school baseball? Just asking because of I know of leagues where the mercy rule applies if a team is up by 10 after 5 or 15 after three innings.

Couldn't agree with you more.. That coach has no class at all. You have to hand it to Eminence for not walking off. Seems to me that is all Andersons coach was looking for.

How long did it take for this game to end?

I am disgusted by this if the score is correct... If it is correct the AC coach needs to be reprimanded!

How long did it take for this game to end?

I'd say it took about 5 minutes.:thumb:

It was a 5 inning game and it took about 2 hr. 45 mins. and thanks for supporting our guys. They did'nt deserve this at all!!!!!!!

I have never and will never like 3-inning mercy rule games.

As far as a game in which one team scores a profound amount of runs compared to the other...I think it is an even worse deal to tell your kids to swing and miss intentionally. If I were the opposing coach, it would offend me even more if they did that.

As far as the Anderson County pitcher, if he was the number 1, 2 0r 3, they should have taken him out after the second, maybe the first because a pitcher can still get the win with only one inning pitched if it was the intention of the coach to throw multiple pitchers. If the pitcher that was used was a JV pitcher, then I see no reason to take him out because you want to give him as many innings with the varsity as possible when you can and this would be the best way to do it.

Now with all of this being said, I do believe that 58 runs in one game is WAY too many. The only respectable thing that could have been done has already been mentioned....tell your players to only take one base at a time, don't steal, don't advance on a wild pitch or passed ball, and tell your guys that they can only advance multiple bases if anf only if they hit a homerun.
