Track the Reds (Week 2)

Featured Replies

I didn't know if they would even get this game in, so I layed down to take a nap. I wake up to see the Cubs lost, White Sox losing and the Reds making the Pirate pitching staff look like the best in baseball.

Marte was "let go" from the White Sox cause he was erratic and didn't throw enough strikes. Yet, he looks like a Hall of Famer pitching against the Reds.

His ERA was over 14.00 going into this game but all Chris Welsh and George Grande says is how nasty he is. You can throw a high school lefty against the Reds and they will struggle.

Well if they can't score getting 12 on, they don't deserve to win. This is one they need to have, let's just hope they can keep the streak of winning series.

Reds are now 0-4 in the first game of a series.

I'll take that everytime if they win the next two every time. :D

Bad offensive game for the redlegs but you can't help but be excited about the pitching the team put out there. For once the pitching is waiting for the offense to come around.

Also you have to give a nod to the groundscrew. They did a phenomenal job to get the field back into playing conditions after leaving the tarp off for too long. Heck of a recovery on their part.

Isn't that a word filter violation? :p

I agree with you, when I woke up I came in to watch the top of the 8th. My first impression was that there was no rain delay and the field looked great. It was later I realized that they had the hour delay. Very nice job and they might get a lot of work before the weekend is over.

Welcome to the site, BTW. :thumb:

Thanks for the welcome HC.

But as a groundscrew member myself I have to give credit to the people who work behind the scenes. lol

Encouraging performance, once again, by the Reds and their pitching staff.

It's tough to complain about a loss like that - things were going great and then the rain hit. It's part of the game, and it's the reason why you play 162+. Let's take the next 2.

Nevermind thought the game was at 1:00 and not 7.

Snell’s first start against Cincinnati last season went well - he scattered six hits in seven shutout innings of a 3-1 victory—but he was 0-3 with an 8.31 ERA in his other three starts.

The Reds counter with former Pirate Bronson Arroyo (0-1, 5.91). Arroyo was hit for four homers in 5 2-3 innings on Sunday in a 5-3 loss to Philadelphia.

Since that game, no Reds starter has allowed more than two runs.

Jay Bruce hit his second home run of the year last night for Louisville. He's up to .324. But he has 10 strikeouts in the 37 at-bats. Bill Bray has been dominant: 3 2/3 innings, one hit, six strikeouts. . . Juan Francisco hit his second homer for the Sarasota. He's hitting .385 -- with nine strikeouts and no walks in 39 plates appearances. . . Daniel Guerrero took a bit of beating for the Sarasota -- 2 2/3 innings, 10 runs, 10 hits, three home runs.

Two of the guys who were impressive in the spring -- Jerry Hairston Jr. and Jolbert Cabrera -- are tearing it up for Louisville. Hairston is hittng .467 with three doubles and two triples in 30 at-bats. Cabrera is hitting .375 with a five doubles and a .452 on-base percentage in 24 at-bats.
