Funny you should say that, I too use rubbing alcohol as after shave.

 

It's alot cheaper than aftershave.

The last time I shaved with a razor was for my wedding. I just use a beard trimmer and go with "cleaned up" stubble all the time.

I hate to shave but I do use the gel for sensitive skin and try and use a twin or three blade razor. I do like electric razors, I had a Braun but it 'bit the dust" after not long at all, honestly it to me was a piece of junk. I like the Norelco electric razors, just haven't gotten a new one yet and using the disposable razors. If I were still in a job where I had to shave every day I would get away from the disposable razors for sure.

Ram, you might try shaving in the shower, if you haven't.

 

Your beard will be softer, there's lots of water, and even for sensitive skin you will get a good shave with less irritation. I use disposable razors in the shower and the razor even lasts about 3 times longer than when I used them shaving at the sink.

I've heard that from several other people, I may end up trying that.

You ought to try it on your head the 1st time you shave it. It really lets you know where you nicked yourself.

 

If I ever decide to shave off my long hair, I'll be sure and try your method.

My wife makes fun of my delicate skin. I can't use disposable razors, they irritate my skin badly. I use a Braun electric razor, which to date has been the best, as far as irritation, but with every electric razor I have tried I have to go over areas repeatedly. But, I have been researching the use of straight razors. I am really wanting to give the straight razor a try. Does anyone use a straight razor?

 

 

Ahhh, you bunch of Nancys. Try dry shaving.......with a bic disposable!!!

 

Seriously though, I wouldn't worry much about the sensitive skin issue with the straight razor as much as you will trying to shave around all those stitches you're going to get after using one.

I use the Schick Quattro (spelling?). A nice trick that I learned a few years ago for those of you that have delicate skin or that often get razor bumps - you need one gel shaving cream (I use Aveeno) and one foam shaving cream (just a cheap one like Barbasol). Use a squirt of each one and mix them together. You'll notice immediately that there are no more razor bumps and far less nicks :thumb: I was skeptical at first, but I swear by it now. It really works great.

I use the mach3 turbo...but found the key is in the shave cream. I use Headblade shave cream. Its a little pricy for shave cream but no razor burn at all.

I try not to shave too often but when I do, I use the Gillette Fusion Power. It gets the job done nicely.
