Should Setty have been ejected in the Semis?

Featured Replies

It's clear he let his emotions get the best of him when he left the bench in defense of his player. Any kid this day and time can't let that happen that's why fights do occur. With that being said the KHSAA needs to get some clarification on this rule so in the future there is no contraversy when a kid leaves the bench area.

I do know this - Coach Henley would not have wanted to win a state title with Mason without all of their players over an issue such as this. Then all would of said it was tainted title for Holmes if they would have beaten Mason without Setty. He (Henley) is a class act, and if he would have won last night, or wins a title in the future, he will want to win beating the best and not backing into a title.

Side Note to the Setty family: don't try and spin this as something it was not he let his emtions get the best of him as alot of young men in his situation do. He didn't committ a crime he simply was caught up in the heat of the moment and he will learn from this for the future. Don't side step the issue, admit your mistake and thank the KHSAA for using fair judgement is this situation.

So Mason pushed for Setty to play for the benefit of Holmes?

Who does the KHSAA answer to, themselves?

Basically, yes. It's just like when the federal government has to examine something they've done. A TOTAL JOKE!!!

A joke yes, but very very sad.

After Mason beat Elliott, I loved the front page picture of him....by the way, those that were there know, that picture was taken after he hit a 3 and then was pointing at the Elliott County Fan Section....taunting...he is truely a class act and deserving of a KHSAA award!

Ok....:sleep::rolleyes:

You guys are blowing this way out of the water. Mason Co has the best team in the state and won the game period.

Looks like Setty will become infamous in KHSAA Sweet "lore". Not sure if this was the kind of "press" he was looking for.

BTW, does anyone have a link or excepts from the KHSAA rule book regarding leaving the bench?

BigBlueInsanity - I personally was rooting for Mason County, and they were definitely in the top 3 throughout the year. And they won the state championship! But whether they were "the best" team in the state will be up for debate.

I would have loved to have seen them and Catholic in another game last night. Having watched both Mason and Catholic multiple times the last year, I would have given Catholic a slight nod going into the tournament. They seemed to improve a lot over this season. But Mason has Darius Miller and a fine set of complimentary players. When Mason had to have a basket, give it to Miller down low, and he could not be stopped.

I am happy for Mason County. But the Setty suspension issue will continue to put a question mark on the Mason Title for many years to come. Too bad for the Mason County team. The KHSAA was in a tough situation last night. Either was, was going to create controversy for a long time.

Feel free to start another thread on the topic but leave Setty out of it. In other words, debate the decision by the refs, KHSAA, Mason powers that be, etc. all you want but leave the kid out of it.
