March 19, 200818 yr Author Newsmax isn't and never has been a truly credible source of news and information. It's openly and unapologetically as biased as some of you claim the "mainstream media" is. Don't hold your breath on the veracity of this report. Show me proof that it's false and I'll agree with you.
March 19, 200818 yr If Barack Hussein Obama can't stand up to his pastor, what makes you think he could stand up to world leaders? Maybe, he should have thrown him under the bus like Pres. Bush did Sen. Lott, for saying on Sen. Thurmond 90th birthday that he would have made a good president.

March 19, 200818 yr Show me proof that it's false and I'll agree with you. I showed you proof on page 1 of this thread. The NY times neo-con columnist William Kristol corrected his column on the subject of Obama being at the sermon b/c it was false and his only source was newsmax. A check of Barack's schedule shows he wasn't at the sermon. Go to post No 8
March 19, 200818 yr You're thinking a little too hard about this. :creepy: If he can't take an honest stance on race in his church (standing up for his country, his heritage), what makes you think he can stand up to a threat from another country? What qualities is he showing as a leader? Maybe he's showing the leadership quality of listening. That's a quality that's been missing from the U.S. presidency for several years now. Just because you listen to someone you disagree with instead of "standing up to them" doesn't make you a poor leader. It often makes you a better decision maker.

March 19, 200818 yr Abraham Lincoln was goaded by a little old lady who told him that he should go in and destroy the south after the civil war because they were an enemy of the nation . . . Lincoln responded - Do I not destroy my enemy when I make him my friend. Jesus associated with sinners. Prostitutes and tax collectors - the religious leaders of his day got an him for associating with them. He also said to love your enemies and bless those who persecute you . . . I think Barack is just being a good Christian. BTW - the political commentary from the pulpit is not theology - it is a commentary on society - there is nothing evident that shows he gave Barack bad "spiritual" advice. I think that America waging war in the Middle East, or anywhere for that matter is bad. I think that America allowing people to be homeless in the richest country in the world is bad. I think that America allowing children to go to bed at night without adequate food and heat in their house is bad. I think our treatment of the immigrant legal and illegal is bad. Many of you rail against our government all the time for collecting too much of your money in taxes. You rail against our government for wanting to take away your guns. You rail against our government for allowing abortions You rail against our government for not deporting illegal aliens. You rail against our government for its equal opportunity policies. blah, blah, blah Rev. Wright was railing against america for its historic treatment of minorities and especially poor minorities. (HIV this is bad) but overall he is railing just like you do. How is his railing against what he sees as some of America's warts any different than yours or mine? It is not. Plain a simple. He commented on the America he knew growing up and some still know now. You can disagree all you want but you can't say that he is wrong because you have not lived his life.

March 19, 200818 yr You think Thurmond would have made a good president? In South Africa in 1980. There is not much difference in Mr. Wright beliefs and Pat Buchanan and Mr.Buchanan served in the Reagan WH. President Reagan was a good president. "The Suicide of the G.O.P." to his view that the Republican Party's new strategy to court minority votes at the expense of its traditional base will spell doom for the Republican Party. author Pat Buchanan

March 19, 200818 yr He could have been to both, I'll wait. Can you describe that scenario and make an educated conjecture as to why? I could have been there too but I wasn't. Do I need to prove that as well?
March 19, 200818 yr Do you? no. But then I'm not the one asking the original question and getting no statement from the original inquisitor, am I?
