Article on Euton Transfer

If Euton and Jackson transfer to Scott County to join Phares, Guyn and Co., then we might as well just mail the state title to Georgetown.

Interesting question. Would next year's team be better than last year's Scott County team?

Probably more top-shelf talent than the 2007 team ... not knowing the program inside and out, I don't know about the depth.

Hard to say ! To many varibles and to much thought required for me to figure ! But their stock goes way up, that's for sure !:thumb:

Losing Portwood and Hundley, two quality players, but gaining Euton and possibly Jackson. Both are considered blue chip talent. In addition to size, I would think Scott County would be improved.

I don't think there is any question that they will be improved. Euton is a better scorer than Portwood, Hundley, or Lee. He can go inside or outside. He is very fundamentally sound. He has been very well coached by his father.

I am told that Jackson is the real deal!!!! He will solve their point gaurd wows.

Combine these two with Phares, Guyn, & Manning and there is no question they start next season as the #1 team in the state. Scott Co. will be the heavy favorite in the 11th as many of the other top programs are losing quite a bit. For example Lex Cath loses 9 seniors.

Next year's team may be better than last seasons state championship team.

Someone also said that Jackson's mother was on injury leave from Toyota or something. I suppose that would tie them to Scott Co. if she were to come back from that. I believe the Jacksons are originally from Lexington.

I think daddy Euton is being a little too outspoken and specific at this point in time. He has talked to Demling and Fields already and been very specific about it also being a basketball move. I dont think it will have an effect on his eligibility, but it projects the wrong way and will lead to a lot of the talk that we are already experiencing.

I know of a case where a kid transferred to a school and was originally cleared to play. But the KHSAA later changed their mind after talking to the father who told them that football also factored into the decision. The KHSAA then ruled him ineligible at mid season and he did not get to play again until the next season.

Hopefully the kid gets to play next year.

The article appeared in the Daily Independent today. According to Rocky Stanley, the Eutons have bought a home in Georgetown this past weekend.

I don't know Dakotah but I do wish him (along with all student athletes) the very best. Sad that he won't finish his High School career with the Royals. He has been there a long time.

To me it seems that it is a legitimate reason for transferring. Dad lost his job, so they gotta move somewhere. I would have expected them to pick a school like Catholic or Scott. I don't see how the KHSAA can rule him ineligible.

Hope the move improves his game. Of course, this is a nightmare scenario for the other 11th region schools.

I would be nervous if I was Euton. Coach Hicks and the Cardinals are noted for developing great guards not big men. Coach Hicks has always struggled to utilize his big men in his wide open style of play. I think that the Euton's and Jackson's might want to think twice about this move.

Euton is not your average big man from everything I have heard. He will be out on the floor a lot I assume, shooting the ball and being involved. He may compare similarly to Scott Hundley as far as being a much more than a back to the basket big man.

I like Eutons dad, he doesn't care to tell you how it is. He is very straight forward.

Better be careful ... the Scott County mafia will take offense. They will consider that an insult to the "best coach in the state."

I have a hard time seeing the Euton comparison to Hundley. He's not the ballhandler or open-court player that Hundley was. On the other hand, he does have more size than Hundley and may be a better outside shooter than Hundley was at this stage of their careers.

Coach Hicks has help Phares development this season to the best big man in the state. Phares maybe your next Mr. Basketball 2009! Watch and See!
