$3.69 Gas Today

Featured Replies

I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I looked at the price when filling up. I got gas today and I have no clue how much it was. I pull into speedway because I get speedy rewards, fill up, and pull out.

Im with you hammer, all i know when I fill up is that its over $100.00, lol

I fill up whatever the price. however I have tried to cut the mileage down as much as possible. I just went 10 days on my last tank of gas. Probably the longest I have gone

Use your Kroger card. Filled my car the other day and saved $18.00 on the fill up. That was a $1.00 / gal. My gas at Kroger Saturday was 2.88 per gallon.

It helps and I try to save up and use the points when gas is high.

3.99 around me in NKY yesterday...just gross.

I'm with you Henry521, I plan on filling up next time at Kroger. I have a decent amount of points, but not that many. Every little bit helps though.

I'm with you Henry. I saw the $3.99 signs and drove right on past them to Kroger. First, their price was already cheaper at $3.87. Second, I used my credits to get another .40 off so I filled up for $3.47.

So what is the excuse the oil companies are using this week to raise the prices? This is not a supply and demand issue in my eyes, rather it is the greed of the oil companies in conjunction with the speculators that are spurred on by the constant press that this issue continues to get.

Oil companies have no control over the price of oil any more than Jarods has control over the price of gold.

Do not buy that for a minute. They do not have direct control, but they certainly have indirect control. The biggest problem that I see is the fact that this is newsworthy everyday. If we start drilling locally will that lower the price, I say no because then the oil companies lose that control. If they have no control then how do you explain the record profits that they continue to make. Today's world is all about greed IMO, nothing more nothing less.

You don't have to buy it but that doesn't change the fact it's the way it works. I can explain the record profits because they have no control over what the price is. If they had the control it would most likely be lower then it is today. Oil companies costs haven't changed that much in the several years. When oil dropped to $40 a barrel in late 2008 do you think that was because the oil companies felt bad? Do you think their costs changed from early 2008 when oil was $140 a barrel (or whatever it was)?

When an oil company sells a barrel of oil to the market they don't set the price. The market sets the price based on market conditions.

Your close but a little off, speculators on Wall Street are adding a $20 premium to oil prices not oil companies.

I was told that due to a few reasons the prices are to start falling soon, one being that the reason given for the increases in Feb was a key additive, that now is more plentiful.

Costs are rising because of having to find new supplies and those supplies ie Tar Sands are dirtier and harder to extract. Low barrel prices will result in oil companies passing simply because it will not be worth their while.
