Coach Combs has drastically improved the weight lifting program at Lewis Co. He served as the strength and conditioning manager for UK before he came to Lewis Co. Combs will have this team turned around with time, assistance, and support from the school and community.

Coach has the tools to succeed and I believe he will. Good man with great character. Getting the players to believe will be a challenge.

More of the kids have accepted the challenge. The support from the community has really picked up. The football alumni has been a big success. So we hope things are going in the right direction for this fine man and his program.

Get the program going in the right direction and then do what should have been done when it was built and name the new field after Corky Prater!

How about Gary Kidwell?

He started the football program back in the late 60's.

I think they ought to name the basketball court after him. Like Coach K's court or Cawood's Court in Rupp Arena.

I heard coach Combs resigned yesterday. Can anyone confirm this?

I read on another site that Lewis County was open.

Why would he resign? I know last year was tough, but I felt like that program was moving in right direction.

I heard the same over the weekend, but was waiting for confirmation. I guess he is leaving to take another coaching position somewhere else. Lewis needs to start the process of finding another coach.

Unfortunately, Coach Combs has turned in his resignation and will be taking a job elsewhere within the state. Although last season was rough, I thought he could really turn things around this season with the numbers he is having come out. Coach Combs is a great guy and wish him the best of luck next year, really suprised me when I heard the news though. I think it would be best for Lewis Co. to find a coach from outside of Lewis Co. considering there is really no good option within the county. We'll see what happens, Coach Combs had a camp scheduled in Auburn this summer and I dont know if the players will now be able to attend. Some good players returning, especially at Quarterback (Andy Downing), Lineman (Jake Bolander), and WR.

If I were at Lewis, I would look at Raceland's coaching staff, they have an abundance of great coaches who IMO are ready for a head coaching position. Maynard has already proven he is more than qualified. Gary Fannin would be a great head coach, I just dont know if he would ever leave Raceland. It would have to be alot of money, he would have to buy a whole new wardrobe LOL. GC also has a couple of guys that might be interested.

There are plenty of "Tony Franklin System" coaches in the area that could be successful at Lewis County.

He had a grand total of one win last year so I don't see how he improved anything except maybe the passing game but on the other hand he threw a screen pass about 99 times to one receiver. At times last year he didn't have enough players to scrimage during practice, and to me there must be a reason behind that and there is no excuse for it.
