I have earned a Bachelor in Education a Masters of Education in school counseling and have taken about 18 hours in additional courses from a variety of disciplines. I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I say that not to brag but to underscore the fact that I am not stupid, ignorant, or uninformed. I am a registered Republican and consider myself ultra conservative . . . so we do exist . . . and probably in numbers greater than you are considering. Perhaps what you have read was written by democrats that wanted to skew the statistics . . . and now you have the rest of the story:D

Your opinion does not stack up with my experience, sorry. Most of the fools I encountered in college were actually in the IDC classes I had to take which were populated by all different types of majors in order to make sure we intermingled. Needless to say, I saw a number of educated idiots there.

I too, have met my fair share of cerebrially challenged people at the University level ----many of them have the title of Professor. These professors regularly influence the younger more impressionable students---thus creating another generation of brainwashed groupies who prefer to spew out memorized philosophies of an admired professor rather than using their own brains to formulate their own opinions---unfortunately creating another generation of the same stock.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that EVERY professor was like this . . . I had professors who were wonderful, I adored, and I respected a great deal. However, I do believe that in the world of academia there are quite a few more "out there" than not.

I can not understand how anyone who considers themselves more of a democrat could possibly even consider voting for Huckabee.

I see more in him than just politics, that is what sells me. Kinda what Carter did to so many in the 80's I guess. It is way more than Left and Right to me. It is about your personality and I saw a lot of Huckabee that I liked for our country.

What do you see when you look at Obama, who advocated allowing babies who survived botched abortions to die without medical attention? Does that not meet the nut job criteria? I am not a Huckabee supporter, but any Obama supporter who attempts to paint him as an extremist has credibility issues, IMO. Huckabee is clearly more moderate than the most liberal US Senator.

What he may claim and what he actually is are two different things. After all he had to have that edge in the primaries because no one else was taking that stance as being the most conservative, it was his best chance to win. A nut job, I'm curious as to why? He is laid back, can joke around yet be serious at a flip of a coin and play the bass in a rock n' roll band. He survived getting married at age 18 while attending college and also while his wife was diagnosed with Cancer, extremely religious and has won a governor seat.

I don't like him for a few reasons including his role in releasing a rapist from prison:

 

New sources, including an advisor to Gov. Mike Huckabee, have told the Arkansas Times that Huckabee and a senior member of his staff exerted behind-the-scenes influence to bring about the parole of rapist Wayne Dumond, who Missouri authorities say raped and killed a woman there shortly after his parole.

Some other things that aren't big, but make me wonder about Huckabee are:

 

His comparison of safe-sex issues to drunk driving and domestic violence?

 

"The best thing to do is to encourage people to make good choices," Huckabee said. "For example, if we were really serious about stopping a problem, whether it's drunk driving, we don't say, 'Okay, don't drive as drunk,' do we?"

 

Huckabee offered another example: "We don't say that a little domestic violence is okay, just cut it down a little, just don't hit quite as hard. We say it's wrong."
