Does anyone else develop their opinions of posters based on their posts?

Featured Replies

I used to think that when ever I saw certain user names that I would automatically know how their opinion would compare or differ from mine. I have now realized that just because I don't agree with someone on the P&R threads doesn't mean we don't agree over on general discussion about music. I find my own thought developing as I read each poster, while I might not agree with them I do think it is great that we have a forum in which people of different backgrounds and locations, united by a love of high school sports (Football), can share ideas, argue and at the end of the day have a hearty respect for each individual.

Several of you say you don't understand how anyone can not form an opinion about people based on what you read here. That's fine if you choose to do so. Just understand that your image of that person may be totally off-base.

Just like "real life".

Sort of.

Understood. Yet, I don't see you, I've never spoken to you. I know nothing of you other than your posts. Either I know you by your posts, or I know nothing at all.

Has BGP ever thought about having something like a Reds night? I think it would be pretty cool if something like this could happen.

Just call me out, why don't ya? :irked::irked::irked:;)

I do this all the time. I am especially prone to "grouping" certain posters together because their views mirror each other so closely. LN, you really don't have anyone else in your group.

Where has Hearsay been? From his posts, I view him as the wise elder of P&R.

I actually saw him earlier this evening, but didn't get a chance to speak.

BGP has had a few "unofficial" get together at Reds games. I made one of em' and it was a blast.

I'm much different in person than I am on BGP. I'm very shy in person and probably won't say more than a few words if any.

Believe it or not, I can vouch for this!

I think that it is only human nature to make judgements about people with whom you have interactions. However, in this situation, we have to realize that we only get to see a small facet of a person's personality. We see his/her beliefs, not necessarily his/her actions. Yes, beliefs usually influence actions, but sometimes actions allow for a broader picture of that person. So, if a poster seems to be coming across really bad in my eyes, I try to imagine what the good things that he/she might do in their lives.

I am pleased to know several of the BGP family, though only one regular in the P/R forum.

Same here, if I were to discuss some of the topics on here in person, I'd probably say very little. Im a shy person as well.

Not sure why that is. I just do not like to talk in person! Unless I know you very well...and then...I will not shut up!

I'm sure some people have developed some pretty harsh opinions of me based on my posts. I'm not a lot like my "halfback20" persona I've developed here.

No harsh opinions here...But I do believe you kinda like the NY Football Giants.

Well done. I do like the New York Football Giants!

I love it on here! It does not neccessarly change my opinion about things, but let's me look at things from a different perspective! I admire each of the posts that are posted. If nothing else, this allows me to think differently about a topic.
