It is just not a professional thing to do to laugh when someone is hurt, whether it is your teammate or a member of the opposing team. BCG probably overracted but he had reason to be upset with Mills. I guarantee that Mills has done a little more than just laughing at Bradley, whether he admits it not.

February 20, 200818 yr What do you think should happen to a coach that disrespects kids? If it's a continuous problem, he should be reprimanded in some fashion, IMO, regardless of the coach. I understand in the great big scheme of things College Basketball is all about the money, and if the coach wins, most people will let many things go. Call me crazy, but I'd like for my coach to win games AND be able to be respectful to his kids.

If the placekicker physically stopped a DL from going out on the field and pushed the DL backwards causing him to trip, the PK probably would chuckle before he realized the extent of the injury. Simply what happened here was that Mills was unlucky to have the camera placed on him at that exact moment. If he had not been on camera, probably nothing comes of it. And funny that you said BCG had a reason to be made at Mills and not Bradley. Remember Bradley was the one that was hurt and he wanted to go to BGC to get Mills reinstated. Who should have been the one upset here? And let's be honest, you can say BCG has a right to be upset but if this is Jasper or Patterson on the bench and they are not kicked off for it and I would bet they are not treated as he treated Mills. Which then says a lot about the character of BCG.
February 20, 200818 yr Why should a coach air dirty laundry to the media? Has Pitino been forthright in why Derek Caracter hasn't seen the court as much early in the season? No because It's an inhouse matter. I don't know of many coaches that go into any detail about why players are dismissed. "Violation of Team Rules" "Academics" "Personal reasons" Rarely, much else is said by the coach. And we're talking about a WALK-ON here. I'm failing to see the big deal on this one. :thumb: Like it or not, walk-ons are held to a different standard. This player means very little to the UK basketball program and maybe Billy feels like he is just getting rid of some dead weight. If Billy felt like Dusty didn't appreciate being a part of the program, I'm sure he could find a thousand kids who will. I trust Billy's judgement on matters like this.

The difference is Pitino wears a wig and Gillispie, to date, does not. Other than that I don't see much difference. Seriously, who wouldn't want to cuss Dusty Mills out.
February 20, 200818 yr I fail to see the difference. It's hard to explain without being able to give examples... If a coach says, "Get your butt in gear!" (obviously replacing 'butt' with a profanity), and another coach tears a kid apart using profane language, telling him how much he makes him sick, you consider those to be the same situation? I think if you were the one in the players position you might not think so.

I'm sure you wouldn't say that the last guy on UL's bench who rarely travels to away games is a major contributor for the program. Dusty was a victory cigar at best.
February 20, 200818 yr I agree. This is not a big deal. Mills didnt even play. What does playing time have to do with anything? So if the kid is not a good player he deserves no respect or fair treatment? The lowest freshman student manager deserves respect and fair treatment. A human being is a human being regardless of athletic ability.
