February 20, 200818 yr No, but how about we have the players pay attention to the game instead of talking to one another about other things. Yes you can laugh but there is a time and place for that. Same thing with baseball, how about we have a little less sunflower-seed spitting contests, and a little more paying attention to your teammates on the field. Exactly what happened in that situation. I'm not just trying to pick on Mills because I know a lot of other people do it too, but you never see Crawford or Bradley (when he's actually on the bench) laughing it up on the bench in tight games or even when you're getting blown out. There is a time and place and players should already know that. When it's gametime and you step on that court your sole focus should be on that game and not be about what time the party is, what you're doing this weekend..etc Laughing for a guy tripping on his way back to his seat is NOT grounds for dismissal from a team. And again, why wait until after the Vandy game? Was BCG's arrogant pride hurt so much he had to take it out on a walk-on? It's obvious BCG has some issues with how he handles his players, and this is a perfect example.

It may be harsh, and I'm not saying it wasn't, but there is a ZERO tolerance policy for walk-on players. Yes this may have been extreme but you have to walk a fine line as a walk-on. I don't know why he waited until after the Vandy game, maybe Mills did/said something and Gillespie hasn't said his side of the story yet.

Actually, its obvious that we have only heard how Mr. Mills wants to paint the picture. We haven't heard both sides of the story. Its also obvious that the UK haters would like to pile on and try to make it a little worse than what it actually is. Surprise, surprise.:thumb:

Mills 5'8" physically stopped Williams, isn't he over 7' from going on the bench. Even him physically stopping him made Williams, MUCH BIGGER than Mills, trip. To them that little moment in which they probably never knew how much Bradley was hurt was funny. Also, says something about why Williams can't find the floor if he can be physically stopped by a guy 5'8".

And if the UK haters are piling on, the UK homers are defending the situation with no basis to do so. Surprise, surprise. :thumb:

February 20, 200818 yr There is a rule against laughing? The rule is zero tolerance. And laughing while a teammate could be seriously hurt breaks that rule yes.
February 20, 200818 yr It's kind of hard to believe that threads about UK walk-ons (Mills, Krebs) generate more interest than threads of current players. Is dismissing Mills really going to have any kind of effect on the season either way? 38 posts already?
February 20, 200818 yr Such as? If you've been on this board (which you have) or have read any articles online, there have been several occasions with people saying BCG hasn't always handled his players in the most respectful of ways....

Surprise, surprise. :thumb: I fault BCG for not being a little more media loving and savy, but until the storm passes over, I would not expect him to get in to a "he said, she said" middle school argument through the newspaper or internet. I would actually be disappointed if he did resort to that.

But allegations that you cussed one of your players and told him you were sick of him may be an issue that at least needs to be addressed IMO.

I'm saying that we have heard Mills' story and nothing more. Of course he's going to say its all BCG's fault. I don't think the story is fair because it is all one sided - but then again, what do we expect from the mighty Lexington Herald Leader?
February 20, 200818 yr If Mills was a good team player don't you think his high school coach would have come to his rescue. Instead he takes a shot at him also. I'm sure this isnt the only house cleaning that will be done. On a lighter note this kid looked just like the Professor minus the ball skills of course. What connections did he have to even end up on the Kentucky bench?

February 20, 200818 yr The rule is zero tolerance. And laughing while a teammate could be seriously hurt breaks that rule yes. So, Bradley gets hit, the players jump up off the bench and Williams starts to charge out on the floor. Occurring 1-2 seconds after Bradley is hit, Mills is supposed to realize that Bradley is hurt and when all 5'8" of him makes a huge man like Williams trip, he is not supposed to smile and have a little laugh. Remember this entire scenario probably happened in a 20 second span. If that. So a kid gets kicked off for a 20-second span. If this scenario is the only incident, it seems more likely that BCG needed to set his dominance on the team and make an example of the walk on which has little effect on the actual play of the team on the floor OR (the choice I would choose based on the comments of the HS coach) actions like this are a common thing and BCG tired of Mills' little stupid game said enough with it.
