A lot of the crowd was there as just fans and will probably go their repesctive regional tourneys. I seen people from Carter, Rowan, Fleming, Lewis, Greenup, Raceland, etc. A great regional like atmosphere.

:fight:There was a big crowd Saturday night at Mason County. Billy G was in the house . Seemed like a regional tournament atmosphere to me. If this crowd attends this years Regional weekend games people won't get in the gym. I think it will be a sad situation. There will be a lot of mad people outside in the parking lot. I would suggest they have all their security outside. There will probably be some trouble. Whoever made this decision would be a good study for someone. Seriously, if you can't get in to see a high school BB game there is going to be trouble?

 

Given what went on last year at VT and last week at NIU, do we really need to be acting like this? The students deserve a great environment, not this kind of stuff.

 

And don't say a great environment can only happen at Mason.

It just makes sense to have it at the biggest gym in the state.

Eight regions have non-neutral sites for their regional tourneys, and all but the 8th and 10th have at least a two site rotation. Most of those don't even hold as much as Montgomery County.

I, for one, would attend the regional finals in Mason County just because it was close to my home. I would not drive out of town for the finals, because honestly it doesn't interest me that much to go if a team that interests me isn't participating. With that said, I will not travel to Mont Co. for the finals. I would guess a lot of people I know will not travel either. Most of my friends only went because it was something to do in Maysville. I can only wonder how many other people around the Maysville area only attended because it was something to do and will not attend the finals if they have to drive to Mont. Co?? Seating capacity may not be an issue. Let Mont. Co. host the tournament and see what happens.

The Faithful 10th Region Fans will still attend, But there will Some like you that will not because of the move..But I almost bet there will be several in this area as well as some in Owingsville and Menifee that will go to see a UK signee play in the MCHS :thumb:

It sounds like some (hopefully just a minority) of the Mason County fans are making it impossible for Montgomery to have success hosting the tournament. If people are turned away they will say "I told you so" meaning they knew people would get turned away and that the move would be a failure. However, if there is not a sellout for any games (which is highly likely) they will say "Look Montgomery County couldn't even get 4,000 fans to the title game, what a failure, the crowd would have been so much better in Maysville."

 

Give this tournament a chance.

Sorry to disappoint you folks, but I DON'T LIVE IN MAYSVILLE, I didn't GO TO MASON COUNTY and neither did my spouse nor does my 16 year old child. I don't own a Royals shirt and the only BLUE I own is UK. But I do attend the tourny every year and I'm just stating facts. Pure, plain and simple!
