We are just speculating but a multiplier is a horrible idea because it wouldn't address the major perceived problem.

I agree! However, something is better than nothing.

Ok I heard in 6A this year that Trinity and St.X are on the same side of the bracket. Can anyone confirm this?

With all the conversation about the biggest 16 schools and the smallest 16 schools being in 6A and 1A respectively. I have divided the teams accordingly. The biggest 16 schools make up 6A, the smallest 16 schools make up 1A. The other 189 schools are divided up equally for 2A-5A. All schools are listed from largest to smallest. Enjoy.

Your response is ambiguous.

All I can say is I strongly disagree with a multiplier for many reasons and for what it is worth I think there is zero talk about a multiplier among the people that matter.

What I would like to see happen if they did this is to make class 1A an 8-Man division. Some of these schools could barely field a team for 11-man but with a 8-man team, if you have 11+, then you're doing fairly well for turnout. Plus 8-man football is really fun to watch.

I would like to see them if the super class was implemented that if you want to move up then you must move to the super class or play in your class you are assigned. I still think you will see the 6 class system and that you will have to play in the class assigned.

Your response is ambiguous.

I understand that both sides will have to give up something. I would hold firm with a split, if I were there to debate the problem. At least get the financial aid and boundaries under control. However, the reason I say a multiplier is, that in most states, this is where they go with trying to satisfy the problem. In Ky I think that they just want to be quiet and hope it goes away. Like Coach from NCC said "fuel the debate". They are just sitting and hoping for us to go away. I include the KHSAA. It is obvious that the majority are for a split. That is "people that matter". What has anyone done?

The "people that matter" are the kids playing the sports. Not the coaches, not the ADs, not the parents who are for anything that will help little Johnny win a championship ring. If you asked the kids, I think you'd be surprised by the results. And for what it's worth, the majority on this site, which seems to be a pretty decent representation of the state, are against the split.

I disagree, kids could care less who they play, they just want to play. You care. Your saying that X will be playing Lex Cath. instead of T for a championship they will be dissapointed?

But do you force teams to stay in 8 man that would fall in this class. Like Harlan, Paintsville, and Williamsburg have pretty good success at 11 man football so should they be forced to play 8 man. I like this idea as is with everyone playing 11 man, if you can't field 11 man then a few more teams would be added in to this 16 1A class.

Bell, I know of one study that was conducted that surveyed 403 individuals in Jefferson County either with children in high school or in high school themselves regarding Prop 20 nearly two years ago when this first got some teeth. The majority were against Prop 20 (179 were in support of Prop 20 out of the 403) and the really interesting thing is that of the persons 16-18 that were surveyed, fewer than 1% were for it. 66% of all surveyed thought that private schools put more emphasis on athletics and 74% said they thought privates put more emphasis on academics. Of the 403 surveyed only 26 people had graduated from a private high school.

A few caveats. This was done in 2006 and in Jefferson Co. only and was not a scientific study.

what and how does an eight man game work? I am interested.

what and how does an eight man game work? I am interested.

Normally, you just take the two offensive tackles and one running back out. You have a center two guards, two receivers, a quarterback, and two running backs (or one running back and one additional receiver).

Some states that do not have big football turnout due to population or other competitive sports have 8-Man Football.

Texas and California have quite a few 8-Man football teams.

8 man football in High School would be pointless. If you can't field 11 then don't have a team.

and it's the same ol discussion, Private supporters want this and Public supporters want this. Both sides back up what they want with polls etc etc.

The real problem in Kentucky sports is the lack of classification for all other sports. The KHSAA is outdated in thier approach to all other sports except track which is classed for some reason....

Ram, there's no way there going to cut back to 16 teams in 1a. There would only be 2 teams in the west and everything else is 3-4 plus hours away. Wouldn't be great on Fulton Co or Fulton City. They're talking about a super division, but, not limiting 1a. I like the idea of 16 in 6a, but, the next 5 classes would be divided equally...
