I can see Kentucky offering Slone a walk-on slot ... he's a nice player, better than I gave him credit for before this year, but he looks like a mid-major guard at best.

Good ballplayer. Can score with anybody, and you don't really get an appreciation for how strong he is until you see him up close.

Slone is a great player, no doubt, but I can't believe UK is looking for more guards. They really need some inside players intead. I will admit, though, that I would love to see another E. Ky boy in a UK jersey!

You are correct, Jim. Sitting at courtside at the All A I could tell how strong he was. I believe against UHA he had 21 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 TO in 31 minutes of action.

I'm pretty sure he's saying that he "should" be considered but doesn't think he will because his team is from EKY and doesn't play against the best competition in the state.

According to what was written, Slone does not have an offer from Morehead State to consider. He has one offer and that's from Georgetown. If Slone does get an offer from the Wildcats, that means UK will be extremely limited in what they can offer for the '09 class. As is, there are ZERO schollys for '09 players. UK does not at this time have one even for the solo commit for '09, GJ Vilarino.

To be fair, NoKy has always placed more of a collective emphasis on football. Or, to look at it another way, maybe the NoKy schools aren't working hard enough.

He is the best player in Eastern KY, without question. He would make for a good walk on at UK.

Ive seen him play a few times. I probably watched him play his best game ever when Paintsville almost pulled the upset of Shelby Valley in the semi finals of the regional tourney when Landon was a freshman. He had 51 that game. Does anyone remember that game? I believe it went into overtime, but anyway a great game to watch.

 

Landon really is a great player but imo at best can just walk on at UK. I believe he can play at some mid-majors schools though.

Candidates? Heck, they WERE Mr. Basketball and they are from EKY so the belief/cry that EKY gets no love has been proven to be false.

If Chris Harrison, Jody Thompson, Todd Tackett, etc. can play for UK, Landon can also.

Sloan is the real deal, he can do it all. He scored 50 pts in a game as a frosh. One hard nosed player who is a good shooter. Good luck to him in his college choices and hopefully he can lead Bill Mikes team back to Rupp.

I think Slone is one of the best 5 or 6 players in the state.

Landon Slone is a very solid player, who has traveled considerably and played against some very competition, in both the summer and regular season. His DS AAU team, played in many states and he got evaluated then by numerous college coaches.

 

He has very good court awareness, instincts for the game and the mental toughness, to play college basketball. He's not afraid to rebound or take the ball to the rim.

 

He's getting several inquiries and unlike stated before, has several offers. Many schools from D1 to NAIA are very interested. In my opinion, Landon would be #2 in college and could be a very good player. He'll have a choice to make.
