You don't get that combination of drugs from one doctor.

You would be surprised what one doctor will prescribe. People come into emergency rooms with huge bag-fulls of prescriptions that they're on. And I'm sure that in the world of the rich and powerful there is an even greater lack of medical ethics.

 

I've seen for myself what pill-stacking can do. By "pill-stacking" I mean chasing the effects (or lack of effect) of one pill with another pill, and the effects of that one with yet another.

 

I know people who have come horribly close to tragedy because of this kind of irresponsible medical practice.

A deadly combination of drugs. No one should be taking all of these.

Yes, they can but this only tends to happen when it has been brought to the attention of the pharmacy by family, doctor or the law. There is something called the "Ghost program" it is set up for people who need to be watched for prescription related issues.

Pharmacists generally have to have the patients history of meds, which they will get from wherever the patient has had their scripts filled previously. They can generally catch drugs that dont go well together when that happens and contact the doctor. Doctor's screw up prescriptions all the time.

True. If he went to all this trouble, it doesnt sound like as much of an accident.

The guy had issues. He made a choice to not address his drug problem...and now he is dead! So sad.

He was on two pain meds (including oxycontin which is only supposed to be used for severe cancer pain). Two anti-anxiety drugs (Xanax and Ativan) and two sleeping pills.

 

No legitimate doctor would ever prescribe that combination of meds. He must have been "doctor shopping" which is all too easy. Get different meds from different doctors and take whatever you want.

 

At best a person could safely take HALF of those meds. Hard to believe a healthy young person needs ANY of them.

:thumb: I agree Beechwood, imo there is NO Doctor that would prescribe those meds in combo. All of this just tells me that this is just another high profile "dope head" that used different Docs probably to get his fix/fixes.

I hate to sound cruel but all of this "accidental" stuff I am just not buying, if he was going after these drugs ang obviously taking them of his own free will then there is not one thing accidental about it.

 

JMO but just another "hollyweird hero" that couldn't handle life. I don't mean to offend anyone, I feel for people that get themselves into this shape, I honestly do - just gets tiring of hearing this same story from a different person in the limelight.

Actually, Oxycodone can include any of the following:

 

Percocet

Percodan

Roxicet

Oxycontin

 

I am working as a part time counselor, and have seen the effects of this medication. When taken properly, addiction is still a possibility, but patients often don't develop dependence. It's only when an absorbant amount is used - or abused - that you're most likely to see addiction.

 

Very sad, regardless of whom it is, or the situation.

Or Vicodin. Pretty strong painkiller. Especially to be mixing with yet another strong painkiller (oxycodone). I'll say one thing - the man never felt anything when he died. He just drifted off to sleep.

This is so sad for this young man with so much potential. However, anyone that would take that many different potent medications in one night has some serious issues. I suppose they have to call it an "accident", but it could be he just didn't care what happened.
