In the NFL's 82 year history the Dolphins place remains secure as the only perfect team and they did so by leading the league in 72 on both sides of the ball having the leagues highest scoring and rated offense and the leagues top defense allowing the lowest points allowed in the league. The question is who is the second greatest team in history? The 84 49ers? the 85 Bears? Who is 2nd?

February 4, 200818 yr Super Bowl Era 1966 Green Bay Packers 1972 & 73 Miami Dolphins 1975 & 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers 1976 Oakland Raiders 1977 Dallas Cowboys 1984, 1989 and 1994 49'ers 1985 Chicago Bears 1992 & 1993 Dallas Cowboys I would say that you have to go from a list of those that won the Super Bowl and had outstanding (no more than 2 losses) seasons. (Exception might be the Cowboys in the 90's) Another list would have to be who were the best Super Bowl era teams that did not win the title? 1968 Baltimore had only one loss and they avenged it in the NFL title game before the Super Bowl. 1986 Chicago was devestating until injuries at QB caught up with them vs. the Redskins in the Conference Semi-Finals 1990 Buffalo was an offensive machine until they couldn't get on the field in the Super Bowl vs. the Giants 1998 (?) Minnesota Vikings went 15-1 and were upset in the NFC title game by Atlanta when their kicker missed a game winner at the end of regulation and he had not missed all year. 1990 San Francisco was the 2 time defending champ and had I think 2 losses but fumbled the ball and allowed NY to kick their 5th field goal to win 15-13 (?) and stop the streak in the NFC title game.

The Dolphins may be the only undefeated Team, but in my honest opinion, there may be five or six Teams that were better, maybe more. But if I had to choose one, it would have to be the 85 Bears.

February 5, 200818 yr Author Wrong. Several have already been mentioned so of course there is need for debate. 85 Bears and 84 49's for sure in my mind. Both the Bears and 49ERs were great teams but neither accomplished what the Dolphins did, end of that debate What about some of those great Bear teams from before any of our time. Back in the 30's and 40's, anybody know anything about those?
