January 31, 200818 yr A Shopping cart is just that ,something that you put your groceries in when you shop a buggy is something that you put your baby in ,and it's not soda or pop its a soft drink . It's a soda! What's SOFT about it?
January 31, 200818 yr Anyone ever been down yonder? What the heck is yonder? I hear people say that all the time.
January 31, 200818 yr My personal favorite: "same difference" As in, you want a Coke or Pepsi? I like 'em both, same difference..... I have also learned that there is an actual festival called "hillbilly days", and it is exactly what you'd think it would be. Many in this great state don't wash their clothes, they WARSH them. I had some problems in grade school (we moved from up north). I was so flustered because I couldn't understand what the heck supper was........
January 31, 200818 yr It's a soda! What's SOFT about it? Don't tell people from Minnesota that its not a soda. Actually, they'd call it a soooooda. And is that like a club soda?
January 31, 200818 yr I'm another N. Kyian that has never heard of a shopping cart referred to as a buggy and has never heard of hot dog sauce. If you want chili on your hot dog, you ask for a hot dog with chili. If some one asked me to put hot dog sauce on their hot dog, they'd get a bunch of Tobasco put on it.
January 31, 200818 yr We put chili on our hot dogs too. If somebody asked for sauce, I'd probably ask them "what kind of sauce?". Our hot dog chili has more kick to it than NKY chili though. I like the NKY type chili's, especially the Dixie Chili a good friend sent me a case of once upon a time. But our hot dog chili (and regular chili bean type chili too) I guess it has more chili powder and spices and less cinnamon, sweet flavor.
January 31, 200818 yr Anyone ever been down yonder? What the heck is yonder? I hear people say that all the time. Sure I have. I've also been up yonder, over yonder, and around yonder. Yonder is pretty much anyplace that you aren't but usually within pointing distance.
January 31, 200818 yr Interesting hot dog sauce article. http://www.post-gazette.com/food/19990812mailbox.asp
January 31, 200818 yr A college buddy of mine from OH was snacking on a box of Cheez-Its when one of our local KY guys thinking they might be a bit stale asked, "Are those any count" The Buckeye looked curiously at the box and answered, "I dont have any idea how many there are" Ram, that was perhaps the funniest conversation I ever heard....... I would say that was a funny one too. Good stuff.
January 31, 200818 yr Sure I have. I've also been up yonder, over yonder, and around yonder. Yonder is pretty much anyplace that you aren't but usually within pointing distance.Whereas a "fur piece" has nothing to do with actual fur, it's just a long distance, probably further away than yonder, but still within walking distance.
January 31, 200818 yr Whereas a "fur piece" has nothing to do with actual fur, it's just a long distance, probably further away than yonder, but still within walking distance. I've always considered "fur piece" as a type of warning. For example, "Yeah, you can walk it, but it's a fur piece". In other words, evaluate just how badly you want or need to be there 'cause it's going to take awhile. For a "right fur piece", one may want to take the car.
January 31, 200818 yr I have been to all areas of this state and have never heard a shopping cart called a "buggy". I have also never heard of "hot dog sauce". However, since my mom is from Detroit, I probably wasn't exposed to as many Kyism's growing up as I might have been otherwise. For example, if I ask for a coke, I mean a Coke (not a Pepsi). I don't mean "any carbonated soda will do". Some Kyism's I have noticed: Camouflage is a primary color. There is a good chance someone might give you directions to the "libary". It's not uncommon to hear the following, "I'm going to get some beer. I'll be back in a couple hours." Then you "ain't" ever been behind me at "wal-marts" when I told my husband to go over "yonder" and "git" me one of them there "buggys" cause I'm "fixin" to go do me some grocery shopping:lol::lol::lol:
January 31, 200818 yr I onced asked a man directions. He told me to turn right at "yonder hill." I never found "yonder hill."

Exactly, if you're gonna "head out" and walk a "fur piece" then you might consider packing a lunch, preferably in a brown paper "poke".
