Pollio said the school self-reported an incident to the KHSAA, not knowing whether it was a rules violation.

I think this is important to the story.

Need to know what the severity of the incident was.

Wasn't a Laurel County coach involved in a scenario many years back that he got in trouble for. It seems a foreign exchanged student emailed him asking for information on the school. He supplied the information and was found in violation of recruiting. It seems that he should have sent the kid onto the registar office and let them provide the information.

If it was something like that, punishment fits the crime. If it was something more devious, might not.

The only reason the school reported it was because they knew they were wrong and going to get busted. The whole deal around this kid is truly comical!!

I know more but I won't take the "das boot" for it!

Sounds like the coached talked to the kid about his school, much like Private schools do to each of their students.

Bylaw 10 only deals with talking, or recruiting a kid to come to a school for the purpose of participating in athletics. The letter of the law only deals with that. It doesn't regulate a school recruiting students for just any reasons.

Doesn't matter cheating is cheating. Should be banned from playoffs. All of them. When administrators and coaches do this type of thing they should be banned 1 year. If parents and kids lie and get the school in trouble then maybe not, but that is why we investagate.

Let's look @ KHSAA if they continue this weak punishment, do you blame them for what these schools do.

Once you establish a good program it will recruit itself. The punishment is so light that many will take it in trade for the success. I hate to say this, but I'm getting to where I don't blame them anymore.

The player in question will pay big dividends for Jeffersontown. He wasn't buying into Coach Just's team system at Manual and wanted out. There's a player sitting out this season and he'll be eligible at Ballard after leaving Central. Academic reasons? It's not closer to home in either instance.

During the open house who explains athletics , lunch lady?

If any coach or administrator public or private talks to them about comming to their school, it is wrong.

Based upon what I was told that occurred, coach should have been suspended for the remainder of the season.

You misunderstood me. I'm just speaking of my kid. Not private schools.

Your kid gets the benefit of the thousands of students state wide who have parents that pay taxes and choose to send their children to private schools.

Your kid gets the benefit of people like me who have no kids and pay taxes.

Do you really believe that what you pay in taxes pays 100% of the costs for your kid to attend a public school?

How about we make up some of the state funds shortfall and start sending the parents of every kid in public schools a bill?

And before someone get on her with their righteous indignation, I know you can't do that because of the state constitution. I'm just using it as an illustration.

No ,but that coupled with tuition that I will have to pay for with no help. Plus the question is what causes such an uneven playing field, for lack of a better term. I think that it is just one of many. I really would just rather agree to disagree for now. I really like the idea of LBBC and would love to explore that into more depth.

How about we split into open and closed?

I do believe that it would seperate public and private with a few public joining them.

How does this solve the things I talked about? It looks to be the compromise I could live with.

Wasn't it last year that the KHSAA said they had their first year of legal fees over a million dollars?

I am not sure you can start fining schools in large sums. They don't have the funds to pay their bills and getting cut even now, as is.

I'm not talking about large fines, I'm talking about more fines from the alleged rampant recruiting/violations that are apparently occurring that the KHSAA allegedly are not investigating. More investigators=more violations found=more monies in fines even at current penalities.

What tuition that you will have to pay????

No public schools parent pays a cent for tuition.

You have completely lost me.

As to the whole uneven playing field rhubarb you yourself said that successful programs recruit themselves and being successful makes good athletes want to play there.

Are you saying that violations are being turned into the KHSAA and they are ignoring them?

Ban all of them for a year from playoffs. Fire the coaches and administrators. It will stop.

:thumb::thumb::thumb:Why is this so difficult to imagine?

I don't think that RM's saying it but there are certainly many on here that hold that opinion.
