January 23, 200818 yr I love the touch screens on the Garmins.. Don't know if the TomTom's have this feature but the touch screens allow you to keep your eyes on the road with less distraction...
January 23, 200818 yr Got my mom a Garimin for xmas, it is pretty user friendly and never had a problem with it.
January 23, 200818 yr I have a TomTom1, it has a touch screen and is affordable and simple to use. I felt like the garmin was harder to navigate.
January 23, 200818 yr I have a TomTom1, it has a touch screen and is affordable and simple to use. I felt like the garmin was harder to navigate. Really? We just turned ours on and it was ready to go. My mom who is not techno savy can navigate through hers.
January 23, 200818 yr Function wise, they'll both do the same things. In my opinion, one HUGE advantage that Garmin has over Tom-Tom is the mapping software capabilities. When driving to your final destination, Garmin will say, "Starbucks ahead on right" while Tom-Tom will just say, "Starbucks ahead". On a small, non-busy road, it won't matter if you don't know the final destination is on the right or left. But on a busy road (Hurstbourne in Louisville, Nicholasville Road in Lexington), it is extremely advantageous to know whether your final destination is on the left or right. When I learned about this, I went with Garmin all the way.
January 23, 200818 yr I have a Garmin Streetpilot 2720. It's the 5th Garmin I've owned. And I bought them all used on ebay for less than half price. I love Garmin.

January 23, 200818 yr Some of the more expensive Garmin Streetpilots have traffic, weather, Bluetooth and XM Radio. They start at about $1000. Mine has traffic, but I haven't bought the traffic receiver to use it.
