January 23, 200818 yr I know that this may not seem right but I can say that besides the fact that you cannot compare football and basketball coaches I will say this. Since that has been brought up, IMO Billy Gillispie should not even be mentioned in the same league as Tressel. I believe that all one has to do is look at te records of the two and their "entire" record in big games. Tressel - 5 national Championsips I believe, Gillispie - 0. I am not sure on conference championships right now - would have to look it up but I would say that Tressel has an overall edge there as well. Both are good coaches and this really makes no sense to compare the two. JMO Now, I am still pumped on this win and was good to see the Cats finish one out. This game will go a long way in bulding this teams confidence. We (U.K.) have not been very good but when you look at it in conference, we have beaten two of the top teams in the SEC tis season....Vandy and Tenn..:thumb: his U..K team has really been improving and continue to work hard. Tonight it paid off with a Huge "W". I wasn't the one who started all the Tressel talk. I just got in when he said BCG needs to be fired. Comparing football and basketball is like comparing apples to oranges. I was just trying to get my point across when I was talking about injuries to this UK team.
January 23, 200818 yr Dont matter how overrated "we" know they are, hopefully the rest of the nation will continue to put them on an undeserved pedestal. We'll take anything to get our RPI out the 180's. I guarantee our RPI improved a little after last night :thumb:
January 23, 200818 yr That's a great point, Kentucky has yet to win a road game this year. Nice win, but this team has 500 written all over them. So they might go to the tournament, but it will be the NIT if anything. Which actually would be a success considering how badly this season started. All that matters now is can they win the SEC tourney on a neutral court.
January 23, 200818 yr I think it's safe to say I'm the first clear backer of both Mick and Billy on BGP... I find myself cheering for Cincy a little bit this season. I like a team that plays hard and wins games that they shouldn't really be winning, just yet.:thumb:
January 23, 200818 yr Yep JT beats his cupcakes Billy G losses to his!!!!:ylsuper: We always beat SEC teams in the "big" games, though. :fire:
January 23, 200818 yr Great win for UK. Let's hope this is the game that propels them forward. That team we have been looking for since the injuries took over, can play with anyone in the country. Jasper, Meeks, Crawford, Bradley, Patterson. Stephenson can keep it up, they have a nice 6 rotation. When they have to go from those 6 is when they get into trouble.
January 23, 200818 yr Some comments from Billy G. postgame: “Joe is becoming a great leader.” “Tonight we had the best 6th man in the history of college basketball.”
January 23, 200818 yr I guarantee our RPI improved a little after last night :thumb: Up to 148 on realtimerpi.com (now ahead of USD, and not the worst SEC team!!). Tennessee is still #1 after the loss.
January 23, 200818 yr Up to 148 on realtimerpi.com (now ahead of USD, and not the worst SEC team!!). Tennessee is still #1 after the loss. I knew they would jump. They are playing better and will be in the top 75 before we know it.
January 23, 200818 yr A few things: -Nice jump shot by Stevenson (well... one of them) -BCG gave Joe a pat on the back when he came out -GREAT inbound play called by BCG at the end. Also great that the players were well coached enough to run it again without a TO.
January 23, 200818 yr UK is defending Rupp against the SEC pretty well so far. If the Cats can play with the passion they did last night then a winning season isn't out of the question.
January 23, 200818 yr Great game! Stevenson playing with confidence, great to see! Patterson seemed open so many times and just kept working until they got the ball to him, or worked hard for the rebound. Bradley did an amazing job on Lofton! I'm sure everyone has already said all this, I'm just really proud of them. They just don't give up! Let's hope it continues to improve!
January 23, 200818 yr Looks like all the conditioning is paying off. Instead of fading in the last five minutes that's when we seem to be the strongest. I'm with everyone on this Bradley played his best game as a Wildcat. He was bringing it up with around two minutes left and I was saying to myself it's time for a stupid pass or bad shot and he did neither. I'm also with Jim Schue's buddy on this one, Patrick is way better than I thought he would be. BCG has made these guys much tougher than they ever thought they could be. The dingy is waiting on BB to take him to shore.
