January 23, 200818 yr James Lee played? :banana: I was about 12 and went to see UK play Auburn in 1978. He drove the lane for a thunderous dunk and some poor sap from Auburn slid over to take the charge and a Lee' knee to the head (probably chest but I was a kid and saw him soaring for what seemed to be 20 feet off the ground). The kid left on a stretcher and Lee hit the free throw. My favorite childhood memory of UK.
January 23, 200818 yr The Cats are not going to do anything easy this year, are they? 4 SEC games, 3 of them go to overtime, and they almost pull out the other at the end. I'm really starting to like this team, but am not sure my heart can take much more of this.
January 23, 200818 yr It makes me cringe when Meeks' is out guarding the perimeter. He has no lateral movement and his man can blow by him. It is obvious that his hip flexor problem really locks him up.

Before, last season and December, I didn't see them working hard and playing smart. They wanted to rely on what they thought was their superior talent and their superior talent wasn't superior. Now they are working hard and have talent. There is an old coaching axiom. Working hard will beat talent that doesn't work hard.

UK missed a MAJOR marketing opportunity by not inviting them back, selling videotapes of the games, selling memoribilia, etc.

New Coach, new system and getting used to a new coaches ways and his demands are now starting to show. This U.K. team is far from great but as frustrated as I get with them at times I cannot fauilt their hustle, heart or desire:thumb: . I have at times gotten on Crawford bc I thought that he was "lazy" but the last few games he has really played hard as all have.

Assistant Trainer Walt McCombs, Manager Don Sullivan, LaVon Williams, Scott Courts, Mike Phillips, Rick Robey, Chuck Aleksinas, Fred Cowan, James Lee, Assistant Coach Leonard Hamilton, Assistant Coach Joe Dean Jr. Cats Beat Duke 94-88 for the 1978 national Championship and Jack "Goose" Givens hangs 41 on the Blue Devils. :banana:

We still have to travel to Vandy and UT but other than that, the worst is behind us.
