Cantrall's Boys State Rating

Featured Replies

Shelby Valley was as high as 11th. They won a couple of games by only ten points or so and have fallen all the way out of the top 25 without losing.

While they have been winning, they've been beating up on some "little guys" in the 15th Region, which drops their ranking. Wins over Ashland and Scott from earlier in the season aren't holding as much water as they normally would.

With that being said, Shelby Valley should definitely be a Top-20 team.

I've never had the chance to see Bryan Station play. What's their style? Who are their good players?

Intense defense. Loves to run. Can play halfcourt game. Their main guy is Shelvin Mack at 6-2 and committed to Butler U.

I'm guessing that Elliott County will take a tumble in the ratings next week...

The only game they've lost all year was their first game to Mason County. To be honest, they're playing as well or better than anyone in the Commonwealth right now.

Same here. Probley in the range of 10-17

I'm betting it's a bigger drop than that.

You never know - Clark lost to Rowan and didn't drop much at all.

Gotta love the bulletin board material!

Yeah, but GRC can make up for that with a strong schedule. Elliott cannot.

Manual beat 3 top 20 teams in less than 3 days and yet are ranked 5th in the 7th region alone after winning the LIT title. And now will face two more top 15 teams in their next three games. Wow!
But the early-season games count just as much ... Manual laid some eggs in December.
I agree about Elliott how many top 25 teams have they played and what is there record against them?

I have seen Elliott County play this year. I went to the Lexington Catholic tournament. I telling you they are for real. They deserve being ranked in the top 15 for sure and yes maybe even #5. They will play Mason County in a few weeks and then everyone will see what they are really made of.

Watch out the Bulldogs from Covington Holmes just might be in the top 3 in a few weeks. :ylsuper:

Bason on the way they're playing now:

1. Bryan Station

2. Mason County

3. Lexington Catholic

4. Holmes

5. Scott County

6. Manual - on the rise

Clark that high and Montgomery nowhere to be found?

My #1 team in my heart is Elliott County and I have no ties to the county and live 2.5 hours from there. They will probably fall to about 10, 11, or 12.

In all fairness, they have only played one top team and that was a healthy Cov Cath and lost. They beat a good Grace Academy TN team that had two D-1 players that were 6'10" and 6'8". They should have scheduled 4 or 5 games against the Lex Cath's, Bryan Station's, Scott County's, etc. Test #2 comes 2-12 at the Mason Fieldhouse. Although I would love for Elliott to be ranked #1 that is unrealistic given their strength of schedule. In reality they probably should have been around #15 all year long given the schedule.
