That could happen. But I believe they do have some tougher games coming up with Highlands, Boone, etc. According to calpreps, their strength of schedule is not as high as many of the others in the top 10.

They beat a good Grace Academy TN team that had two D-1 players that were 6'10" and 6'8".

Are those guys really D-1 players?

 

Grace is 11-7 and lost to Dixie Heights by 14 ... I suspect they aren't as good as some people would like to claim they are.

My #1 team in my heart is Elliott County and I have no ties to the county and live 2.5 hours from there. They will probably fall to about 10, 11, or 12.

In all fairness, they have only played one top team and that was a healthy Cov Cath and lost. They beat a good Grace Academy TN team that had two D-1 players that were 6'10" and 6'8". They should have scheduled 4 or 5 games against the Lex Cath's, Bryan Station's, Scott County's, etc. Test #2 comes 2-12 at the Mason Fieldhouse. Although I would love for Elliott to be ranked #1 that is unrealistic given their strength of schedule. In reality they probably should have been around #15 all year long given the schedule.

 

With a small school like Elliott you can never be over confident. Maybe the coaches did not realize they would come together like this this year. After all they have to play the teams in the 16th another year when they may be down. I will say they need to play out of the region more. thank you for the Lions :thumb:

My advice to Coach Mays (and I'm sure he doesn't care about my or anyone else's advice) is that next year they schedule 4 or 5 top 10 teams and play them anywhere on any night. Playing top programs only helps you get better win or lose. I would schedule my district games, five other top regional teams including RH, and then look for games with some Power Teams from Lexington and Louisville. Then throw in a Scott County game also. Playing some of the bottom tier 16th Region teams does nothing to prepare you for post season.

He is probably going to do that, but you know last year the same team barely scraped around in the region and had five or six losses and never really beat anybody very bad.

I don't think he or anyone expected them to play as well as they have this year for the most part.

Scott Co. has the best players in the state and the most depth. I think you could say that about Scott Co. every year starting with the 98' 99 season with transfers Jones and Hundley to present.
