Most Points In A Game

Featured Replies

One of the most impressive scoring exhibitions that I have ever witnessed was in a (district tournament ?) game contested at the Campbell County Middle School when Pendleton County's David Turner (I think that was his name - Talbert's brother), scored a big bunch in the final game of his high school career, despite being injured.

I'll never forget that game, or the performance by the gutsy senior.

Perhaps someone from Pendleton County can help clear up my memory with some solid facts.

Dicky Beal--Covington Holmes....he had 50 against Holy Cross in 1980

I believe that Danny Dixon holds the record for Walton Verona for most points scored in a game - 62 - back in 1976.

Wilt Chamberlin 1962 Philadelphia 100 points.....Oh wait you guys are talking local high school.......:D

Back in the mid-70's (somewhere around 76 or 77) a kid from Nancy High School scored somewhere around 100 points in one game. The opponents kept intentionally throwing him the ball so he could score. I don't believe his effort went down in the record book due to the circumstances. Does anyone recall this?

Breathitt Bobcats

1996 Scott More against Clay Co. 65 points

1991 Tim Gross against Newport 54 points

2005 Andrew Sewell against Owsley 46 points

Pretty sure Cecil Clair still has the record.

Who were those 3 players? Terry, Neely & Gross?

I believe that's right. Neeley hit some step-back 3's that night that were off the charts, had people shaking their heads and rolling their eyes. Packed house that night too.

Jack Jennings has the Holmes record I believe with 68 points against New Cath in 88. I think he missed about 6 shots total between FG's and FT's. Was at Holmes-Highlands game in 86 where Highlands won 115-10? He had 69 without the 3 line .. would have had at least 80 with it in my opinion.

Sure sounds like it would be a lot of fun playing on a team with a player scoring in the 60s and 70 point range. I'm sure glad I didn't have to play on one of those teams. :dancingpa

That's incorrect. Lloyd Poore holds the record for Walton-Verona with 67 in 1958.

I know Chris Harrison had 72 for Tollesboro in the early 90's. I'm not sure that he didn't have more than that in a game, but I do remember him scoring 72.

I believe this was against Augusta in 1990 or 1991.

I met the guy you are talking about when I was living over in Pulaski Co. for a while. Can't recall his name for the life of me.

I attended this game. I believe it was December 1996 at Campbell County's old Christmas Tournament. Pendleton County was playing West Carter. Senior David Turner (Talbert's younger brother) scored 55 points on basically one knee. He had injured his knee during the first half that game and still went on to score 55.

Some of this information might need to be tweaked, but I am positive that he scored 55 points in Campbell's Tournament one year.

That's incorrect. Lloyd Poore holds the record for Walton-Verona with 67 in 1958.

I said, "I believe". Thanks for the clarification.

Any Scott Co. people know the record for the Cardinals? I attended a game back in the early '90's where a kid by the name of Jamie Pieratt (I think) absolutely went off. I believe he had 50-something and was thinking it was a record at the time. Does anyone else remember this?
