How to even 6A

Thats great, how about those teams were better than Highlands those years. You for some reason do not mention the victories Highlands had those years over larger schools. And I usually don't like to reference scrimmages, but Highlands pretty much had thier way with Male in 2007. I don't think you'll ever hear anyone from Highlands cry about an unfair advantage in enrollment numbers. They go to everygame expecting to win. And if it doesn't work out that way, I'd say they'd give kudos to the other team, and go back to work to beat the next opponent large or small. I'm guessing you're a Manuel fan, maybe I'm wrong, but according to your enrollment dominance theory had they played Highland this year, the Birds would stand no chance. Think that is reality?
Your totally off track. I've never said that numbers are the only determinate to success on the field, I'm saying that T and X have the LARGEST numerical advantage in KY football in comparison to the rest of the field. I'm also saying that the rest of 6A football in Louisville would be more competitive with them if the numbers were similar.

I only used examples where Highlands play 4A/6A schools from Louisville. The only other Louisville team you've played is Central and they aren't in the top class.

Hey Rowdy,

Last time I checked, HHS is not a 6A school and has less than half the enrollment of boys of X or T. Who cares what they did against Male? They are not in our division. You are just looking to pick a fight and I will not bite on the bait of your previous messages. I will respectfully tell you good day sir/madam and move on, knowing that our boys were perfect this year and you can't take that away from them.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!

I can't believe I just read this.

Either you didn't read any of the thread or didn't comprehend it.

I'm not looking to pick a fight with Highlands people. Highlands is completely irrelevant to this discussion at all, and your own supporters have only brought them into it.

Reread the first part of your post and see how clearly it matches the point I've been making.

I was going to show you how flawed your logic is on this; but everyone else beat me to it.

Here is the logic. Show me the flaw.

Class are divided by enrollment numbers. Therefore numbers have been determined to play a role in a programs ability to compete.

The largest differential in enrollment numbers is the one between StX and Trinity and the rest of 6A.

Closing the enrollment gap would make 6A more equitable.

Closing the enrollment gap would make 6A more equitable.

Only if you hang your hat on the numbers theory alone.

Highlands is only irrelevant to you because it dispells your theory. So instead of addressing it you ignore it. May be the probem with the 6A programs that can't beat the 2 headed monster.

Some facts to chew over my friend. The biggest school that you have to face has a 37% advantage over you. Most 6A schools have to overcome a bigger gap than you do (even though you play two classes up) in order to face T and X.

You would have to add the population of boys at Highlands to Eastern High School to equal the number at Trinity. Your telling me adding the Highlands football team to Eastern wouldn't make them better?

Highlands has a great program, for reasons that I'm not aware of. What I am aware of is that if Male, Manual, Ballard, PRP, and Eastern had as much depth as Trinity and St X they would be significantly more competitive.

Chew on this Madison Central 837. Highlands 395. Larger % gap than that of Manual and X or T. Highlands has beat MC the last 3 years. There are the facts my friend!

This is why the HHS argument makes no sense. Highlands has EVERY advantage over Madison Central, except for enrollment. What's the point in comparing the situation? It just muddies the waters. Now, take St. X versus Highlands, which are much more comparable except in enrollment, and you get 45-0 (and it could have been worse, I was on the sidelines for that game.)

Numbers aren't the only thing that matter, but they do matter or we wouldn't have classes.

Ceteris paribus, bigger male enrollment makes a big difference.

I did address it. You aren't competing against the teams that I'm talking about, when your playing them you are losing, as FTBigBird states it, because those schools are twice your size.

The schools you are beating aren't the schools I'm talking about. The situation has NOTHING to do with Highlands because T and X advantages and disadvantages (they do have them) are different than Highlands.

But...Highlands is an aberration....a football paradise of sorts for kids in NKY. On the other hand, Madison Central is like a box of chocolates, they never know what they're going to get.

Post one claims the domination of Xand T are due to enrollment being larger than the other 6A schools. Numbers and numbers alone. Now T or X are not twice the size of any of tthe schools listed. Highlands 3 years in a row beats a team that is more than twice their size. Let me throw in they would have trounced all of the poor 6A team listed and may have beaten X or T this year. But since you guys ignore the facts, I figure I can speculate. You lose to T and X every year because they are better than you. Get better instead of trying to come up with some consolidation plan.

I'm pretty much tired of the crying of all the poor 6A teams that don't compete. Until you get it, X and T will hand you your hats year in and year out.

According to the Ram people, numbers drive the whole wagon. You can't beat someone that has a higher enrollment.

Depends on which players....that's a lackluster comparison, in that you are assuming all things are equal to our JC competition other than we have 25% - 40% more "available" players. That's obviously not the case in that our staff's ability far exceeds the ability of that of any other staff in the county.

So, you're saying if the X and T coaching staffs were at lets say Southern or Seneca, then they would automatically compete with them?

There is a huge #s discrepancy with St X and T vs the majority of other 6a programs.. In comparison, look at Highlands...They have roughly 400 boys in there top 4 grades and then look at Pulaski Co, who is in 5a. They have roughly 500 boys in the top 4 grades. Not much difference at all and Highlands would in reality, fall into the 3a class.. Only 100 kids variance, 25 per class and they are 2 classes apart. In most cases T and X have signifigantly larger advantages..

So, you're saying if the X and T coaching staffs were at lets say Southern or Seneca, then they would automatically compete with them?

Nope, but they would be much better, immediately. Then if the kids and the community were to buy in, and do everything that our boys currently do. Yes, they would compete with Trinity, and X right now. Remember Seneca beat us in 2003, and we won state that year.

Trinity has won some very close games in the playoffs over the last five years that had they gone the other way and I am talking some last second wins against public programs I do not think we would be having this discussion. Those years are 2002, 2005 and 2006. It is an easy analysis to do, that is three of the last six titles. I have said this for a long time that when someone besides Bob R stays at a now 6A school long enough to build a program that is a good coach with a good staff we will see more parity. I will submit 96-00 as examples of this. Trinity lost to four public programs in the playoffs during that time span. Numbers do not play as big of a role in this as some would think. I will not say it doesn't help but it is not the major factor to great success.
