If you were drafting for the Bengals...

Featured Replies

I find it funny that the Bengals were signing LBs off the waiver wire in midseason, then starting those guys a week later, but most everyone in this thread thinks DL play is the bigger problem.

If they don't get past the DL the LBers don't have to tackle. :D

The only LB was was worth taking at 9 in not in the draft.

Assuming Odell and Brooks come back available and healthy the Bengals could have a log jam at LB.

I would maybe like to see them go DL, DE, and then either OL or TE.

1. Owner

2. Head Coach

3. DL

In that order :D

1. Owner

2. GM

3. Scouting department

And now let's address the team.

:lol::lol::lol:

This post gets the PepRock stamp of approval.

Defensive and Offensive Lines...a good DT would by #1 on my list.

I would throw RB in there as well, if they found themselves in a situation where a good one dropped further than expected in a later round. They have to go D-line with the first pick...

...don't they?

That is only because they put 4 LB's on season ending injured reserve, plus Odell should be back, plus they found a good one in Dhani Jones, assuming he is resigned; they also need to resign Landon Johnson.

With all that being said, I would draft DT, DE, LB, TE.

O-line is not a problem as many think; they have drafted an o-lineman almost every season; they have lots of depth there; they just need to stay healthy, as every team's o-line does, to have some continuity. They do need to sign Stacy Andrews without a doubt; if he is as good as they think, then start him at guard in front of Bobbie Williams; he played guard as recently as '06 when Steinbach went down.

If USC Jr. Ray Maualuga enters the draft, he could be a nice fit at LB for the Bengals and the AFC North....although he is projected as a mid to late 1st rounder.

Depth on the OL, a pass catching TE, and adding more athleticism to the front 7 have to be other needs.

I disagree about the O-Line. Levi is way overrated, Willie is at the end of his career. Whitworth is serviceable, Ghuciac is not a great C, and Williams is a little better than Whit. If a stud DT is not possible, move up and take Long from Michigan. JMO:D

Levi has done a good job. Yeah he had a rough start in his first couple games back this year, but after that he did a great job. Then in the previous years he has also done a great job. Signing Willie back might have been a mistake, should have kept Steinbach. I do agree with you at center, I think that is a position we need to get better at. I mean if you think about it, ever since Braham went down and Ghuciac has been in there, that is when the line problems started...

I'll give Levi the benefit of the doubt. I say overated because of his draft position. I'd get Long in at LT and move Levi to RT. Letting Steinbach go is going to effect this franchise for years. Or at least until the next worst personel move is made by the worst front office in the NFL.

You need to get rid of your franchise tagged player who makes his tackles 7 yds on his side of scrimmage.

Both lines should be the focus of the draft.

IF their plans are to bring all the LB's back, and they have made offers to Jones and Johnson according to the Enquirer, they don't need to draft a middle round LB. Only if they can get a game changer with that first pick.

That said, do you package your pick with someone like Rudi and try to move up in the draft and get an impact player???????

I don't think the Bengals could get any value out of Rudi.
