I think everybody is just jealous over the small school that doesnt win often. They did it with Rose Hill over all of the Transfers and now they are doing it with Elliott Co. and playing playing time. I wish everybody would just sit back and enjoy a Small School have fun.

Nobody cares that they are winning, they are just questioning why there are starters left in the game in a 30+ blowout game when you have enough players on your bench to play reserves for the remainder of the 4th quarter... not put your star player back in.

I just seen where Ferg is the second leading scoring in the state with 27.5 a game. He's only .3 points behind. Good job Ferg

It sounds like discussing a 40 point night from a kid and how and when he got those points are all part of the topic of the thread. If a guy wants to talk about Coach Mays and his style why can't he.

Another nice win for Elliott County. Their shooting seems to off a bit the last three games, but they still are winning. The ADI said the team shot 43.5 field goal percentage, and 24 of 26 free throws, which is 92.3% which isn't too bad over all shooting. Bootstrap: stated Ferguson was 2nd leading scorer in the state I'am sure that took a lot of work and time to gain that status, so why should we crucify him for getting 40 points in a blow out? In a horse race does the Jockey hold his horse back when he is in the lead so the others can catch up and maybe win? As for players getting hurt they can get hurt in the first minute of the game just as well as the last minute of the game, so should the coach not play a player for fear of getting hurt the first minute of the game also?

Back to the game...the 3rd quarter was exactly what basketball is about. Solid defense forced a boatload of turnovers and fastbreak opportunities. Elliott County shor well in that quarter and rebounded well. I believe the scoring in the 3rd was something like 35-8. Great job!

Elliott blew them out in the 3rd quarter. Elliott played there reserves a lot in this game. Elliott was up about 38 in the 3rd quarter. Ferguson set out most of the 4th quarter. The starters got more rest in this game than they do most games. Elliott when on a 16-0 run to start the 3rd quarter. Ferguson was not put in until late in the 4th quarter. He was taken out after the first minute of the 4th.

He didn't have 40 points until he went back in (in the 4th). He was fouled and scored his 40th point on his first foul shot.

I think that if Elliott County expects to make a deep run into the state tournament, they had better concentrate on strengthening their strengths and I think that is exactly what the coaching staff in doing.

He can. The bottom line is that the guy that talks about this hasn't spent 27 years coaching a school and may not deserve to question a legend in the state. Everyone can question all they want. But, again the bottom line is that Coach Mays has paid his dues and no one posting on this site will ever come close to doing the same. Good luck to all teams. I'm for Elliott no matter what.

Blah, blah, blah, What? I would make an intelligent comment, but this comment was no where deserving of an intelligent comment. If you want another reason, then you need to find one. You don't coach Elliott, good thing. I for one am very glad.
