Walton-Verona @ Simon Kenton predictions 1/11

What are your thoughts?

This game could be a blowout by SK. Walton supposedly struggled with Owen Co's inside game and SK has better inside players than Owen. SK's Maegley could have a big night.

SK should win by a pretty good margin- I say 18.

I really thought their inside game really struggled last night. The perimeter game is what preserved the win against Conner- especially Ponzer's defense down the stretch.

SK by 25+.

SK's guards.... Slavey, Ponzer, and Barnes are going to give Walton a big dosage of trouble.

SK by a bunch...

Barnes played a good game on Tuesday, SK could use that type of performance on a nightly basis. Brown was also a factor, that really helps SK when Maegley is on the bench. I think SK wins this one by double digits unless it's close towards the end and they can't hit their freebies.

Sk in a blow-out for sure, let's get serious Sk should blow-out everyone in their district. I can't understand as far as the Regions go how you can have 3 Kenton County high schools that probably aren't 5 miles apart play in 3 different Regions. Someone with authority needs to rectify this problem. I know the 9th region is tough but so what all three high schools should still be in the 9th region.

SK by 13.

As far as them being in the 8th region they are very glad about that becasue they should be able to compete for a regional title every year. :thumb:

I think this will be a very physical and emotional game for both teams. If Walton is hot they will stay close, if not it could get ugly.

SK 64

WV 57

Simon Kenton 75-53.

SK - More

WV - Less

Score - I have no idea. Both these teams are having a roller coaster season. No score would surprise me.

Watching SK this year, I am suprised that anyone can pick SK by a lot. There are so up and down, but I guess so is Walton. But let's break this game down.

Ponzer v.s Ponzer - Payton gets about 16 a night/ Nathan around 7 a night

Jones v.s Slavey - Jones gets round 15/16 a night/ Slavey 16 a night

Kirk v.s Layne - Kirk around 14 a night/ Layne about what? Haven't seen him yet this year but I'll say 15 a night

Tiger1 say's SK guards will give Walton problems, but you are way wrong. If Walton doesn't play scared they will be fine at guard play, the problem will be in the inside like it has been all year. I think Walton's guards are better scorers than SK guards. Payton can score much better than Nathan, Nathan just takes care of the ball better.

I still say SK by 10, but it will be tight the whole game!

I doubt either Ponzer guards the other all night, not to mention the fact that they are two entirely different types of players. Nathan creates points for the rest of his team, Payton is more of a scorer. You can't give either the edge there. Kirk probably won't be matched up against Layne either, but if they do the advantage goes to Layne who is much more versatile. Jones vs. Slavey could be good. If I'm coaching I match them up like this: Layne vs. Ponzer, Slavey vs. Jones, Brown vs. Kirk, Ponzer vs. the other starting guard, and then Maegeley vs. whoever else will be starting for WV.

Have you seen SK play recently? They had Boone beat and then beat Conner basically with ease. I agree that as long as Walton stays composed they can make it a very good game, but it will be tough to stay calm if SK presses as successfully as they did the other night. That is where the majority of these blowout margins are coming from is the way the 2 teams have been playing as of late.

SK wins by 17. I think Maegley is way to much to handle for anyone on Walton throws at him. I also say the pressure defense from SK will give Walton fits. IMO Walton has to shoot the ball well from the outside in order to keep this game close. Good luck to both teams!
