Missouri town considers banning table-dancing, swearing in bars

Featured Replies

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - What the heck? A St. Louis-area town is considering a bill that would ban swearing in bars, along with table-dancing, drinking contests and profane music.

City officials contend the bill is needed to keep rowdy crowds under control because the historic downtown area gets a little too lively on some nights.

City Councilman Richard Veit said he was prompted to propose the bill after complaints about bad bar behavior. He says it will give police some rules to enforce when things get too rowdy.

We also need to ban public passing of gas, ticket people for jogging too close to walkers and imprisoning those who talk in the theater.

Wouldn't the problem be taken care of if they just banned Tony LaRussa? :D

I chose this story to post here because of this very reason. I knew everyone here would have A LOT of fun with this.

Its a bar, there is suppose to be bad behavior.

Why?

Sticky, we can cancel our St. Louis trip now....

Why?

Because that's how drinking has been cast by the Bible-tossers.

Is this from the movie Footloose?

Is this from the movie Footloose?

When London passed its "moist" law a couple of years ago (similar to Danville's), the city ordinance had special language put in specifically forbidding dancing and karaoke at any establishment serving alcohol.

O come on now Jim. Is it the Bible-tossers fault the number of DUI's in this country and the number of lives lost through drunk drivers?

I don't think the drunks in this country, AND NOT EVERY PERSON WHO DRINKS IS A DRUNK, need any help making themselves look bad.

BTW, being a drunk is a sin according to the Bible. Not necessarily just the act of drinking.

For curiosity's sake, define "drunk."
