This is true. But you need also to remember. Patterson is a freshman. Crawford does not play defense and turns the ball over like a freshman. Meeks and Jasper are coming off injuries, and can only play a few minutes without getting tired. Bradley's assist/turnover ratio is not that of a 3 star player. Harris can't score. Stewart does not see the floor because of lack of experience. And Carter has been injured his whole career and plays more like he is 5' 2" than 7' 2". These are not excuses. That is what BCG has to work with. I don't think any coach in the country could take what UK has and have a winning season.

Please. Coach's have it a lot worse than what UK does and they are doing a whole lot better than Kentucky. Tubby Smith won with these boys, why can't Billy G? Also, if Tubby is coaching this team, I don't think they are this bad...

This year is a wash, if he doesn't win 25 games next year he will be gone. Tubby would be 9-4 with this team instead of 6-7.

I'll take my chances with BCG coaching and actually WINNING the big dance in March. Tubby is masterful at playing in the big dance, but that's about it.

Really?? So that national championship, and all those sweet 16's, elite 8's, and final four appearance's were just "playing" in the big dance??

Well it's going to be a whole lot longer wait with Billy G as the coach, but that's just me. Like someone said in another thread, Tubby was apart of that staff to ya know? Before he was the head coach he was an assistant, which does mean he had a helping hand in recruiting. He had 1 final four appearance, but hey, that's more than Billy G will get...

We'll see. Let him get some recruits on the roster and we'll see how it goes.

Can't count the final four and the championship. That was one year.

 

And that was exactly Tubby's problem. He had a fantastic regular season record, but the Elite 8's were rare, and he never got past that with his own guys.

 

I promise more people would be happy if a coach didn't win a single regular season game, but won the SEC and NCAA tournament. Its about championships at Kentucky, not about regular season victories.

You know why? Because BCG can recruit and left A&M in good shape. Tubby refused to recruit good talent and left UK in shambles.

 

I don't call Crawford, Bradley, Meeks, Jasper and Patterson "in Shambles" , we could have had better but all were ranked pretty high as h.s. recuits I believe- we could be left with a lot worse and yes, Tubby recruited Patterson - BCG did follow up on and complete it after OTS left, Patterson and probably Lucas (at UF) was probably going to be at UK. No way of knowing for sure about Lucas.

There are a lot of programs dealing with and winning with a lot less. One of those programs is the University of Minnesota.

 

I like BCG, except for some of the "extra" junk that has been rumored about him. BCG is one heck of a recruiter and was known as a defensive minded coach although I have not seen that as of yet but will hold judgement on that untill he gets more of his kids in place and more of his system going.

 

As I was saying, BCG is one heck of a recruiter - he has proven that he can build programs where not much had been done before him and expectations weren't all that high. Now he is trusted with the Winningest Basketball Program Of All Time.........Big Difference, I sincerely hope that he can handle it along with the actions that are and will be expected of him here. I support him - he is our coach. I also support and am pulling for Tubby at Minnesota.

 

When it gets right down to it and to actual "in game" coaching......Tubby Smith has forgotten more basketball than BCG probably will ever know. JMO :thumb:

Let UK lose quite a few regular season games and look terrible in doing it, kind of like the way it is starting to look now. Let this go on for an extended period of time and then re evaluate what people want.

Your comment "didn't win a regular season game but won SEC and NCAA tournaments" is really kind of funny.................if a team doesn't win any or enough regular season games they will not be in those tournaments and then see how long the coach last.......:sssh:

I do agree that it is all about Championships at U.K., I hope that NEVER changes but it is also all about ALL games as well. You don't have one without the other.
