Surely you don't think Elliott could make a run in the All A. I mean you know they wouldn't be playing those weak 16th region teams don't you????:fire:

True about not playing the weak 16th region teams in the "A", but last I checked you only have to win by 1 to advance, not 40-50 like they do on their regular schedule?? :D

Seriously, while I was on record questioning their regular season schedule, and by the way was the only poster to predict the double digit win for CovCath (though I did miss by 1); I think they'll fare very well in the "A", assuming they win region. They're on the best side of the bracket, their first game should be a gimme, and I don't really see a challenge until the semis vs. probably June Buchanan. UHA, LCA, and the 9th region champs are on the other side of the bracket--So why not!!

Didn't Gallatin beat walton on their homecourt with one of their best players out? I am not sure but I think it went down that way.

I'm not sure who you are talking about when you say, "one of their best players were out". If you mean Maddox, I believe he only sat out the first quarter. I'm sure he wasn't 100% but he did play. The game went into overtime and could have been won by either team. Just remember, on any given night, anybody can win.

Carlton is who I was talking about.

Thanks for clarifying. Also, remember that Walton has a freshman that is contributing much more now than when they played earlier in the season. I still think Gallatin will win, just don't overlook Walton.

I agree with not overlooking anyone. In one of my earlier post on another thread I said if Walton was hitting the three they could beat anyone on a given night. I was just pointing out that GC did beat them on their home floor.

If I was listing an All A Classic top 5 ... I'm not sure if Shelby Valley is eligible this year, but I'm listing them anyway:

1. Elliott County

2. University Heights

3. Shelby Valley

4. Hazard

5. June Buchanan

In the wings: Paintsville, Covington Holy Cross, Bardstown, Cumberland

A definite swing toward the mountains this year ...

I've been trying to complile a list of the various regions and favorites so . . . if I've left some out, please feel free to add them in.

1st:

That's as good a guess as anyone ...

Seriously, Murray is probably the favorite, but Fulton City is a strong contender if they get a guard back that is having some academic issues. Mayfield might be the #3 team at this point.

I understand. It should be an exciting game and tournament.

Excellent!!!

I think I made the statement that Gallatin County would be a most deserving winner. I'll stand by it.

They've knocked on the door and lost to the eventual champion the last two years (betcha didn't know that I knew that). I'd like nothing more than to see bona fide Class "A" Gallatin County knock off some of this year's "big dogs" and bring the big hardware back to Warsaw where it would truly be appreciated.

Very classy Mustang. And yes we would appreciate the hardware. :thumb:

We aren't in a defined region, Norhtern Kentucy and Central Kentucky both shun us, but you better throw Gallatin in the mix or they will beat you. :D

I'm going to go ahead and predict on the Gallatin/Walton game. With both teams at full strength I'm going to say:

GC: 84

WV:59

It's only a 25 point spread because of gallatins "homecourt advantage" and not simply being better than walton.

Cumberland is the favorite in the 13th, but Middlesboro and Pineville are both very dangerous and capable of making a good showing in Richmond if they get there.

Bardstown is the clear favorite in the 5th, and is among the contenders in what looks like should be a pretty good field, if things play out.

They're a very balanced team with perhaps six or seven guys who can lead them in scoring on any given night. Pretty deep team and has a good press. Lot of interchangeable parts.

A Cumberland-Bardstown first-round matchup would be outstanding.

Considering Elliott has a good draw they shoud win or at least get close.

Elliott Co. and UHA in the finals. Elliott Co. winning.
