In his defense, Listerman had to deal with his team's reaction to having one of his players go down with a nasty-looking injury. However, this is the second time that Mason has really put it to the Colonels in the second half; and this time on a neutral court. And held the Colonels to something like 36 or 38 percent shooting for the game.

The OldGuy posted that Bondick was knocked to the floor. As I re-call, the injury occurred in the first half under Mason County's basket as he was defending a driving lay-up by a Mason Player. If a plyer has the ball and is driving to the basket, it would be real hard for him to knock Bondick to the floor. It was just a hustle play on Bondick's part as lost his balance and landed very hard on the floor. To his credit, he hopped right up and ran to the bench. Tough Kid!!!!!!!!

Of course Listerman doesn't have a player of Miller's caliber in his lineup...

Did Bondick for sure brake his wrist.

It was a nasty looking injury. He hopped up to the bench, but you could tell he was in A LOT of pain. Hopefully it isn't career ending and he can get back on the court soon.

 

As for the "almost" dunk, Darius was trying to score and swing the momentum back to the Royals. A dunk like that would have definately got the fans involved and inspired his team. He charged and got it called on him. No harm done, just an athletic move made by a great player.

 

Good Luck to the Royals tomorrow, it will be a very tough test.

10th Region looks pretty solid...

GRC wins AIT going away and MC puts a hurting on one of the top teams in the 9th.

He was not taking it strong to the hole, a Mason player was going strong to the hole and he was defending.

Mason County coaching staff needs to make sure they have the halftime speech available for future use.

 

I thought Bondick went down with the injury just before halftime? If that's correct, not only were the Colonels within striking distance, but were 4 points ahead. Mason County outscored the Colonels 40-18 in the final 16 minutes. Bondick would have helped for sure, but I don't believe the Colonels overcome that kind of second half advantage with him in the game; even as valuable as he is. Looked like a nasty injury from floor level; I assumed it was a dislocation or a break. Hopefully he gets well in a hurry; I sure hate to see anyone hurt and it always seems a little bit tougher whan it's a senior.

 

Royals were way too passive on defense in the first half, allowing CC to run that motion offense almost to perfection. Darius did a nice job locking up #21 (as in the first meeting); but #32 hit a couple of open threes that kept the Colonels ahead.

 

Second half was a complete turnaround. Much like the first meeting, the Royals turned up the intensity; seemed to get every rebound. Good pressure after made baskets; according to the stats CC had 11 turnovers but it seemed like 5 or 6 of them were in the third quarter when the Royals took over. And something lit a fire under Darius as well. He played like a MAN in the second half. No hanging around 25 feet from the basket tonight. The best dunk (and there were several) was the twister with a couple of guys draped on his back; not many high schoolers make this play.

 

Solid game from all the starters as well as Tolle, who seems to relish mixing it up in the paint. Good luck tomorrow night; it will take the Royals' "A-game" to win.

If you read my post I was talking about the Mason player having no bad intentions, then I said he went strong to the whole.

I'll say it. CovCath would have won without the injury.
